That is the law in that country, tourists and so-called expats need to be aware when they go to another country to always be cautious.

Nothing says come to our oasis in the Middle East like arresting people who film what’s happening around them.

They’re doing this because they don’t want to destroy their main commodity which is tourism for wealthy individuals. If they start seeing buildings blown up or acts of terrorism in places like Dubai or Abu Dhabi, their economy (and society) will likely collapse.

    Their survival depends on it.

  4. If it’s in Israel or Ukraine everyone will cheer on this law to prevent information flow to enemy’s strikes accuracy.

Dubai’s economy, in particular Dubai’s real estate is fucking done. Dubai real estate has already crashed by 35% in three weeks due to this illegal war with Iran. One of the big selling points of Dubai, besides it being a tax haven and a crypto hub, was how safe Dubai is. That all went away when Iran started attacking any US proxy in the region. There’s really no world on the horizon where Dubai or the UAE rebounds because the truth has now been exposed with how unsafe the region really is. Money moves a lot faster than any legislation and for sure a lot of that money that’s being tied up in Dubai is going to move out to other tax havens.

Iran is going to take down the world’s economy.

My question is: Will anyone hold Trump accountable?

No way – not in the great democracy of the UAE. You don’t want to disturb the folks at Kite Beach with … reality.

I know it’s petty, but I am thoroughly enjoying the idiot influencer crowd discovering that UAE is, in fact, an authoritarian monarchy, and they were rubes being used to whitewash it for tourism.

News agencies should make special, extra reports just for attacks on UAE. Fuck a government that hides.

  10. Arrest them all!

That will help with that whole tourism thing.

Instead of not going and not investing in the country because of the drones and missiles, people now won’t go there or risk putting money there because of the danger of getting arrested.

I would feel sad about the people losing money or losing their freedom in this if they weren’t (almost) all horrible people to begin with.

I am not saying that you deserve to get arrested or drones for being a luxury influencer or tax refugee in a place with poor human rights records, but I do feel there are better people to feel sorry for.

I think if they just hold a comedy show everyone will forget how big of a piece of shit they are. IDK just spitball’n ova here. What do I know? I wash Goldfish for a living.

  12. Fucking nuts but then again if you go there as a foreigner and get your ass arrested, you really did that to yourself.

  13. In many cases its OPSEC

Many people forgot how that looks like in practice since they never experienced war + getting used to 24/7 social media exposure.

If Russia attacks EU and I get the moronic idea that this is the right time to make an Insta reel about a German base, surely they will arrest me. However, they will likely let me go after issueing a fine and seizing my phone.

Actually, the filming of bases in Germany, even from the outside, is already heavily restricted, even during time of peace. I wouldn’t bet on these laws not being extended in scope in times of war, with punishment increasing as its judged espionage.

It may shock some, but countries are actually hostile to the notion of their own citizens, even moreso visitors, informing the enemy through reels and TikToks.
