v underwhelming imo. quite boring for a long awaited comeback, hope theres more to the album!

    2. felt like i was watching a cologne/perfume commercial. i was waiting for a RM voiceover “Arirang by BTS” at the end. good song though

    3. sadphrodite_ on

very safe title track imo, i like the swim~swim parts but im so over full english songs

EDIT: 4 songs into the album and they really chose the worst song for the title track😃

    4. I was expecting a little more after such a long wait. It’s fine, but everyone knows that BTS can do much, much better than fine.

Personally, I felt it was very…plain. I was hoping for more, but then again maybe I was just letting my expectations rise too high. It was a bit too repetitive for my taste, but it was by no means a terrible song. I’ll give a few more listens after the high has worn off, but as of right now, it is a pass for me. ARMY and BTS fighting<3

Well RM had warned us before the release that swim was probably the most simple track in the whole album

Loved the song but the video was more like Lili reinhart starring BTS

    7. Bowmantorch on

It felt underwhelming that the video was more about Lili Reinhart and less about the group. The first minute of the song got me grooving, but then I realized there was nothing else in the second half; it was a little boring.

Love them and happy to have them back. This gave the vibe of how groups do a pre-release before the actual title track.

    9. multistansendhelp on

I’m an ARMY (ult BTS) and I wish I could gush over this but I’m feeling very flat about it.

I can’t pretend I’m not disappointed that the first OT7 music video we get in this many years barely features any moments of the group all together.

From a lyrical meaning perspective, I was expecting a little more impact? Especially where they left off with ON, Black Swan, etc.

Edit – I’m nearly through the album now and literally every other song is more interesting both lyrically and sonically 😅. I’m baffled actually.

That’s it…? A bit bland for a comeback after almost 4 years. Could have done better

    11. Icantlikeeveryone on

I like the beat, but the lyric is not what I imagine, and I kind of disappointed that the song is full English. But alas, I love that BTS is finally BACK!

    12. ‘Tell me where the hell you at, girl’ somehow immediately make me think of ‘Bella, where the hell you been loca’

    13. MiniMochi2024 on

i do really enjoy the chill vibes, but idk i was kinda hoping for more? it’s def going on my playlist, but i was expecting a little more for their return. hopefully i like the other songs. they looked and sounded fantastic tho.

may bts fans forgive me but this was not worth the 4 year wait…. a very generic song that’s not living up to the hype so far

    15. ButterflyMinute9605 on

Eh, it’s okay. Better than some of their other English only songs, but still a generic safe option.

Only listened to a few B-Sides so far and they’ve all been better than this TT. If you aren’t a fan of this definitely check out the other songs!

    16. PrimaryTomato3310 on

i like that it’s different from their other stuff but the mv having more lili than bts is genuinely so strange given that it’s their first mv in so long. really wish theyd done the whole sailor concept with more of just them 😭

    17. i was waiting for a rap break to close out the song.. and then the video ended 😔 not a bad song, the beat is good and the melody is pretty but it’s kinda boring and is very western mainstream coded (not saying that like it’s a bad thing just an observation!). it looks/sounds like they took inspiration from a harry styles type song & video & mixed it in with the song structure of a western pop song. swim is not replay material for me but im glad to see them back.

i’ll go listen to the album now!

    18. A bit slow but it’ll grow on me. Body to Body is really catchy and I hope they do a MV for that

    19. Legitimate-Self5341 on

I’m kinda upset that it’s in English. I’m not like one of those people who think everything must be in Korean but really? I mean it’s their choice to do that but I was expecting something else

    20. I had to google if this was the title song bc it and the MV were… not what I was expecting for the long-awaited BTS return? 🙁 they listed so many names that worked on this MV like it was a movie so I watched it again, and it was just fine to me in terms of artistry. Way too much of the female lead for THE return of BTS. Do they want to move away from harder dancing? I‘d respect that but would be a little disappointed.

Hopefully album will be better and less generic English pop.

    21. New-Knee8613 on

Very Underwhelming given the intense hype. Will there be more music videos?

    22. _piedpiper_ on

lol sorry but why did the actress get so much screentime, I swear I only saw like five seconds of each member

    23. josie-salazar on

“Splash, drift / I make waves with my two fins” you gotta be joking 🥀

    24. guyfromsoccer on

      It’s…fine? Safe?

I found it most odd that the video had a whiff of that old school Kpop thing where all the members are chasing one girl, though obviously that wasn’t the meaning here and it was done with more artistry. But I got “Big Budget War of Hormone MV” vibes a little 😆

    25. ForeverinFall on

Song never really took off. Was waiting for some high soaring vocals. This feels like a pre-release, not a title track.

    26. Clarkey7163 on

even for a chill song i think this is probs too safe for my personal liking, black swan up there with probs top 3 bts songs but that feels like it has so much more character and stuff

hopefully the album has more of what i’m after, i was hoping for more hype like more Run BTS than Yet to Come

      edit: the album is indeed the shit i was after, 6 songs in now and i am baffled they went with Swim for the title track ;_;

    27. DiMpLe_dolL003 on

Honestly I was expecting their comeback song to be more hype. This is a bit bland.

    28. Underwhelmed visually and sonically. I don’t understand the direction they took with this: MV with an external actress being the center, full English song, very flat music wise.

The song is fine, not bad or anything but it doesn’t scream BTS comeback after 4 years and it doesn’t really scream Kpop.

I’ll tune to the album with more expectation than this. I know what they can do.

    29. According to spotify, the song is 2:39 min – had really hoped for a longer title track. Considering they focused so much on the Korean heritage during the promotion, I’m surprised it’s completely in English and that they didn’t choose a Korean actress. However, I actually really like how mellow the song is, the vibe got me hooked. It’s not your typical dancy kpop song, it feels more pensive and (I usually don’t like the discourse around this topic but here I am using that word) mature. Curious to see them perform this one live.

    30. Lucky_Constant7762 on

I expected more from the video and the song… they said it would be steeped in Korean culture. In the end, there was no video or music (again, everything was in English language) 🙁

    31. seven777heavens on

Not to make this about race (I say voice dripping in sarcasm) but centering the album around the story of arirang which was a historical event only achieved due to inclusivity between African Americans and Koreans but choosing to highlight white people (in this MV and also the album trailer smh) just reeks of mainstream validation

It would’ve been so cool if they chose a black American actress to highlight that part of the story but this MV / song feels so far removed from what they initially tried to portray
