Because VY is the most disorganized, bastard company that exists. They just sell tickets, they have no register of who’s bought a ticket, where their buses are, or even what time it is, they are completely clueless. And try getting stuck on the mountain in the weekend. Their bus won’t come, office is closed, and you are literally stranded at the mercy of Norwegian winter climate in Dombås or some shi

This isn’t Vy though… this is BaneNor.

A while back, all the trains were on time, this was a great scandal and the Vy leaders all had to resign.

Are you sure it’s Vy’s fault, and not any of the other companies that run the different parts of the railroad? Because Vy is just an operator. They’re not responsible for the tracks, the infrastructure, the trains themselves or anything that doesn’t have to do with the daily operation of the service. They don’t even run the ticketing system afaik.

This is why the E18 is busy out of town at 1400 and why two of Europe’s busiest flight routes are from Oslo to Bergen and Trondheim.
The circus is run by the clowns. It’s never going to get good. You just have to watch the doors fall off the clown car and laugh and forget that you are paying for this and that there has been huge investments into the rail services for the last 20 years. In all seriousness both BaneNor and VY senior management are just “jobs for the boys” 1.4 million a year plus a made up bonus and leave early every Friday.

Would you prefer it if Vy insisted on running trains while BaneNor’s signaling systems did not work?

Man last time I took a ticket I had to take an uber home after 5 cancelled trains. I am only taking my car from now on.

Do what I do. Never buy a ticket before you know the train is actually going to run.
Disadvantages: I occasionally forget to buy a ticket.
Advantages: I never buy a ticket when trains aren’t running and, they never have ticket inspections either, so it all works out in the end.

This sums up in a nutshell why further privatization is in the best interest of the customers. The state is unable to run any service efficiently. There is no competition, noone is ever responsbile, everything is always someone else’s fault. The shitshow is about to continue.
