    1. I have a different idea. Europe should do the opposite – issue more immigration visas for skilled Russian workers. That way, you’re both draining the Russian state and economy of valuable people and getting skilled people who usually have no problems with integration into Europe to fill much needed job positions. For national security reasons, a clause which prohibits them from working in sensitive areas of employment should be added. It’s a win-win situation. A huge majority of smart and educated people in Russia are anti-Putin.

    2. Still too many. Needs to go down to zero. They can apply for political asylum if they are not putinists.

    3. For anyone suggesting it going to zero – use your brain for a second and remember that Schengen is not only issued for tourists, but also relatives of EU citizens and business travel (which can be beneficial to EU, e.g. participating in scientific conferences). If we start isolationist politics we risk quickly end up being isolated ourselves, not protected.

Shouldn’t there not be a blanket ban? I’ve noticed quite a few Russian speakers around Europe and shouldn’t they be surveilled or something, instead of being free to travel round the bloc
