Huge part of my childhood. I remember smacking the shit out of my little old tv with an antenna to get it working to watch Coach’s Corner. Genuinely a Canadian icon.
I’m glad he got it. He never should have been pulled off the air either. Did he say some questionable stuff from time to time? Yes. Was it coming from a place of hate? No and that was clear. He did a LOT of good for the game. He was a positive roll model for us growing up. He *MADE* HNIC. Many Saturday nights the Leafs were doing so poorly I only watched the game to see Don, and when we were doing well no one pumped you up more than Cherry.
