Seems like Israel sees this as the moment to just accept the PR and diplomatic costs to destroying as many of their regional threats as possible.
OTOH I understand the rationale, on the other hand the toll of suffering in the region is terrible and I really hate that we’re on the precipice of what seems to be another large scale ground war.
I do think the maximalist PR campaign against it from its critics in the west has helped make this a reality though. Western states, the UN, etc. would have a lot more ability to rein Israel in if this weren’t the case. When you have people blaming Israel for everything under the sun (ICE shootings, NYPD brutality, 9/11, JFK, the weather) – there’s not much point in holding back to avoid condemnation, it’s unavoidable anyways.
