Complete madness. Between the UDC/SVP that do not really want a cap on 10 millions on population but a cap on immigration while imagining that we’ll keep popping white babies or whatever stupid eugenist shit and the other political parties that seem to be ok for the country to have the population double every x years, it’s so fucking insane.
The denial is so deep and strong, it’s insane. We’re already feeling the system having more cracks and shocks and people want to remain in the delusion that we’re going to keep having more GDP, always, instead to recognize that we need radical adaptation for the massive shocks that are coming this century 😮
We’re going to lack oil by 2050, Hormuz strait closed or not : [https://theshiftproject.org/en/publications/oil-supply-europe/](https://theshiftproject.org/en/publications/oil-supply-europe/)
How long do we remain in the denial about our situation ? No amount of combined nuclear, hydro, solar, wind and others will make us compensate the 2/3 of what we consume that is dependant on fossil fuels.
And if you remain in this delusional state, you will listen to industrials and finance people that will go harder and harder on scapegoats (ecologists, immigrants, etc.).
Even if you’re a hardcore right-wing person, what will it accomplish in terms of energy to „dispose“ of the people you don’t like ? The „we’re going 100% nuclear“ is pure political propaganda that cannot be done even if we go full-scale war economy.
Time to prepare locally, people. It’s not a debate of moral and ethics, it’s about resilience and how to build it back up with your canton/village/territory, regardless of your political spectrum or preference in electricity source.
If this referendum were to pass, it would be the biggest political blunder in Swiss history. It does not even address the failures of current immigration policy. This legislation would mainly exclude highly skilled, law-abiding workers, while undocumented individuals would not be affected in the same way.
As an added consequence, it would jeopardize the bilateral agreements with the EU, our largest trading partner, accounting for around 50% of our exports. Switzerland would then be subject to EU tariffs, which would severely damage Swiss industry. While it might reduce immigration, this would likely occur only because the standard of living would decline significantly.
At least the British, before voting for Brexit, had some leverage over the EU and still lost. Switzerland, by contrast, has little leverage and far more to lose.
