Only 4 countries? That’s a disappointment. Glad I’m Swedish

In all of those countries, I bet you, that a doctor can refuse an abortion on the grounds that it would kill the mother.
Because doctors don’t tend to kill people if they can help it.
Except Harold Shipman, but that was an isolated incident.

That’s kind of misleading, in France an individual doctor can’t be forced to perform an abortion. But he would still be required to do it if there any risk for the mother’s health. He also to give the contact of a doctor who do abortions.

Abortion should be illegal over 12 weeks.

Cannot refuse until what stage of the pregnancy?

Bulgaria mentioned! And it’s something that I think is positive? And we’re 1 of only 4 countries? 🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬

Tbh I think a doctor should be allowed to refuse to do abortions as long as there is always an option for the mother to have someone else do it. I am pro abortion but I understand that religious beliefs make people disagree with them. I don’t believe they should be allowed to say what women who don’t share their beliefs can do (like in America how some states have banned it) but if they themselves don’t want to commit the act I don’t see an issue with it. There should always be someone else that a woman could go to to have it done though

There are no shortages of doctors in these countries. Free will of doctors needs to be taken into account.
It shouldn’t be mandatory compliance against refusal, when you mandate something, extremism grows, either it be in support or in defiance.
Edit: To the people downvoting: I am an atheist, so definitely I am in full support of abortion on the mother’s will.

This seems crazy? A doctor should be able to refuse any medical procedure if it exceeds a certain threshold of risk to the patient. Abortion shouldn’t be exempt

Give it time and methodical reforms with reasonable explanations and it will all turn pink. We shouldn’t force progress if the societies aren’t educated enough, otherwise it turns into ideological warfare and whatever is achieved is unstable.

In Italy you are most likely a gynaecologist to perform an abortion. Yet, it is allowed to refuse to do it, with some regions close to 100% opposing doctors IN PUBLIC FACILITIES.
I think no refusing doctor should work in the public sector. Women earned their rights, they shall be respected.

in France, if a doctor can refuse an abortion, he his in legal obligation to send you to another doctor who will do the act.

The title is wrong tbh.
Its only countries where doctor cant refuse abortion based on personal beliefs or religion.
They can refuse abortion on medical grounds (risk for mother for example)

Umm I would add that in Britain they can refuse but must refer you to someone who will.
Also they can refuse if it breaks the laws on abortion like it cannot be terminated after a certain term but I imagine that’s probably the same in those highlighted countries

They can if they are the ones pregnant what what
