Most Japanese didn’t even have surnames until a couple of hundred years ago and many people had childhood names then had an adult one, monks have a chosen name. Sumo wrestlers have alias. It’s not uncommon in Japanese culture
The fuck does names have to do with family unity? Family unit is all about having a loving, supportive environment. Big news for a society as psychologically behind as Japan, I’m sure.
