Like I said on the other post, I’m happy Heeseung chose what he wanted. I already knew that he wasn’t coming back.
But that last paragraph makes Enha’s contract sound like a slave contract at this point(forgive my wording). It pisses me off to no end.
I wish people would not be so focused on whether Heeseung left of his own choice or not, and actually focus on the most concerning part of the entire statement which is the last paragraph. What do you mean you overwork your very human artists to the point where they don’t have time for their own individuality?
he’s 100% not coming back, there was always a low chance anyways but there is no way they’ll backtrack on their decision after reaffirming he’s not coming back twice.

Heeseung’s been excited to debut for 2 to 3 years. Engenes know that. And what if Heeseung’s first choice was actually to stay in Enhypen and debut as a solo artist in Enhypen?
But the schedule made it impossible because Belift isn’t going to be flexible about it. This affects the 6 because the article implies no one in Enhypen is going to debut as a solo.
Here is a thought, give them breaks
Belift is there anyone there that knows PR and how to read the room? They want the group boycotted? The schedule is hectic….. This company….

Anyone who still thinks that he is coming back is deluding themselves. The statement is very clear and straight to the point. Heeseung is not coming back and has clear artistic direction and the remaining members will remain busy.
This was always the case idk why the fandom is spiralling over this info like a company just doesn’t announce a person leaving a group for fun. I just hope with this the fandom can tone it done a bit cause the think pieces I’ve been seeing is crazy

What I was going to add is I’m not entirely outraged and it doesn’t change much, but the choice of words in the “demanding schedule” paragraph is only going to egg on every fan protest.
Not sure that was the best move on anyone’s part here. Makes it seem the Korean Herald isn’t partial towards BELIFT.

Well *yeah*. They did not take this PR hit for nothing, if they were ready to publicly announce it like that it’s happening and no amount of stan backlash is going to change their minds.
Sidenote; can anyone think of a time where fan protest like this actually made a company reverse course on a decision in this way? I can’t off the top of my head.

Yeah, that’s pretty scary if the fan thought they were logical and reasonable and outted themselves as a stalker.

We actually do **not** know what BELIFT said and how much of the above „according to the agency“ is interpretation.
Eg the company could have said „his vision needs a lot of focus and dedication, which does not work with the currently tight and demanding schedule“
Which is a completely fair assessment.
It’s like when you’re employed but also set up your own business. If you’re dedicated to your own thing, keeping up with your employment job will at some point most likely be difficult. Or not. But that is a(n adult) own personal assessment of needs and wants.

It’s pretty clear what happened and the company is trying to manage it without throwing him under the bus directly. The company getting blamed for it is better than him getting bashed. The fans probably won’t get the „direct“ response they want because it will kinda make him look bad. I personally don’t think he did anything wrong yk how fans can feel betrayed.
Also they could probably slow down the group career to manage individual activities but all members should want that. If not, then 6 people shouldn’t have to slow down on the group for one person. I don’t think fans would appreciate it if 6 did group stuff while one did individual activities while being in the group so…this was probably the best decision for all parties.
yeah, you could maybe fault them for overworking the group and hence not giving members time for individual activities but even then it would be hard to have fully promoted solo for a member of the group which hasn’t even completed their first 7 year contract. With bgs also dealing with military service, they probably want to maximise the time for group activities.
I really hope the madness from fans stops after this. It couldn’t be clearer that this is his choice. Was the choice completely free of other considerations? Probably no. Because most adult choices aren’t! But he did made the choice after considering everything. That’s not coercion. That’s just being an adult.
It doesn’t matter whether it came as a surprise to fans or if other things were suddenly cancelled. The end result is he’s leaving the group. High time some Engenes grow the fuck up and make peace with it.
Being young, immature etc don’t seem like good excuses because these fans are grown enough to speak to media, release statements, organise protests in a foreign country etc. It’s getting embarrassing for the whole k-pop fandom community. Stop the nonsense.
I’m only talking about the Engenes who are “protesting”. I know there are enough fans who are upset, which they have a right to be, and are dealing with it in a mature way. And yes I would say the same if it was a section of my fandom that was behaving in the same way. What’s stupid is stupid no matter who does it.

another lol because a schedule that doesn’t allow the idols time to pursue solo activities is… the standard schedule of a successful group? group members are supposed to prioritize it, at least until they’re securely established. at 5 years old, enha is still fairly young. ten years ago bts rapline could release their *mixtapes* on *soundcloud* because they were also producers and they could tinker with their music in hotel rooms while on tour, and the projects weren’t official solo debuts, weren’t promoted in shows, didn’t have fancalls, fansigns and so on. if bts debuted nowadays, their solo releases would probably either happen much later in their career, and/or they’d be turned into full physical releases that, if promoted, would halt the group activities. „the members don’t have time to pursue solo musical activities“ doesn’t mean „they’re so busy they can’t go to the toilet,“ it means „they have a full time job and can’t tackle on another, even for a couple of months.“
Fans needs to just accept that he don’t wanna come back. Just watching enhypen’s perfomance itself gave it away loudly. They’re gonna be loud and proud being six from now on!
Insta rn is a freaking mess, no surprises. I’ve moved on from this, but there are about to be a lot of engenes protesting till the end of time, this statement might have just riled them up even more.
Makes sense really, belift probably can’t afford to put enhypen on a paus just so that one member can have a solo debut. Illit have a super cool concept that clearly has a lot of effort and money put into it, but they’re still growing and they definitely don’t bring in as much money as belift spends on them. That means that belift has to rely on enhypen almost entirely, has to keep them touring and doing gigs. They simply can’t afford to let them take pauses. So the only way heesung would be allowed to have a solo (which he clearly valued a lot) is for him to actually leave the group
Fandom has been beyond embarrassing about this. I totally get them being upset because it is upsetting but the actual response is over the top in the worst way.
Does anyone who knows/speaks/understands Korean know the reaction of k-fans? I think ifans also seem to forget that kfans are most important to companies and their reactions set the tone.
From an outsider, BeLift runs enhypen like they are a temporary survival group. It feels like they are managed like the company is running out of time with the members. Wasn’t enhypen supposed to be permanent?
I hope fans can now support Heeseung and/or Enhypen. This was clearly Heeseung’s decision and we need to respect that. This was probably planned some time ago based on his expressions in the recent clips I’ve seen of him.
It’s definitely a conflict within the group that the company cannot fix despite discussion.

Belift is actually willing to take the heat from them with this measured PR statement.
As an old Sone, I believe this how it would looked like if Jessica didnt emotionally put that Weibo post that did so much damage to the Soshi Branding. She could have her solo or the subunit.
Honestly I don’t see how fans think this much protesting is gonna do anything good… best case scenario is everything dies down and everyone goes their own way as announced; worst case is Belieft actually drops him cause they think fans are not gonna support his solo career 😬😬
This is why I’m not saying anything about Belift or signing a petition. This is the first time I really think an idol didn’t want to stay in their respective group to pursue something else, in this case Heesung’s solo career.
I genuinely wonder what Heeseung and Enhypen’s thought process are in this matter. Especially regarding the fan reactions. I don’t think anyone saw the extreme fan reactions coming. I know that they all will do well, but I genuinely worry about the state of the fan base. It’s genuinely sad to me that an adult making a career decision has garnered this much reaction.
This was a given. Hybe didn’t make that decision without anticipating backlash, and it’s hard to imagine the scale of the backlash needed to make them backtrack.
What I cannot understand though is why the fans act as if he was kicked out without any say in it when it is becoming more and more clear that he was simply given a choice between the group and a solo career and he chose to go solo.
Sure. The company could have tried to balance it but it isn’t like this choice was made completely ignoring what he wanted to do.
At some point this protest took a turn from being in defence of Heeseung to being a protest against Heesung’s decision and it’s starting to do more harm than good.
I feel like a lot more idols would be happy if groups were handled like they were back in the day. First 2/3 years of big group promotions then after that maybe 1 Korean promo a year and maybe some light promo in Japan, but otherwise you get a lot of time to start doing solo stuff.
Nowadays though groups are too successful for companies to care about solo work. Make them wait 7 years ….but by that point most of their hype for a solo career has passed.
