Taylor is trans, sure, but has a JD from the Cardoza School of Law in New York, has worked as an attorney for Lambda Legal, the ACLU, and as an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Division of the New York State AG Office. She’s well qualified for such a position, which really should be the center of any discussion.

Who could be better? If you want an advocate, why not one of their own?

  3. Remember all the chuds on twitter before the election saying mandani would implement sharia law

    > What will the New York City Mayor’s Office of LGBTQIA+ Affairs do?

    > The Mayor’s Office of LGBTQIA+ Affairs has been designed as a centralizing force in municipal government to oversee and coordinate resources and initiatives concerning LGBTQIA+ New Yorkers.

    > The office will also be tasked with enforcing equality guidelines, helping ensure that discrimination based on gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation does not occur in other city agencies.

    > The office will also develop and strengthen resources to uphold the city’s sanctuary protections for LGBTQIA+ individuals. This particular commitment carries even more weight as President Donald Trump continues to wage a coordinated campaign against the LGBTQ+ community, which has led to the[ erasure of transgender references from the official Stonewall National Monument website](https://www.out.com/news/transgender-removed-stonewall-national-monument-lgbtq) in 2025 and the[ removal of the LGBTQ+ Pride flag from the Stonewall National Monument](https://www.out.com/news/stonewall-monument-camera-campaign) in 2026.

    > In addition, the new office will absorb the[ NYC Unity Project](https://www.nyc.gov/content/unityproject/pages/) — the existing city initiative that coordinates services for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers — and is committed to expanding it.

Even after reading this I’m still not sure what the Office actually does or how it works. Is it a team of lawyers that will take cases regarding discrimination? Or does it coordinate with the ACLU’s team of lawyers for that before handing cases to them?

Not a former FOX news host or former UFC fighter?

    Colour me pleasantly surprised.

She’s a looker. Republicans can keep their clown makeup and lip jobs.

  7. Great! The conservative sub can stop looking for obscure stories about immigrants to distract from their pedo leader’s issues and go back to their favorite topic: Mamdani and LGBTQ+ hate.

  8. This is how you should confront issues as a politician, in my opinion. Don’t ignore it or suppress it, put a team on it. I’d love to see the same kind of approach to homelessness, although I wouldn’t advise putting a homeless person in charge. Could be fun, but someone’s aluminum foil is probably going to go missing.

  9. Who cares. Gender isn’t a qualification. She has great qualifications. List those.

Can’t wait for men in Florida to complain about this and how NY is failing as their condo sinks into the ocean.

Seems like a good choice. Has a lot of qualifications, and is actually a part of LGBTQ herself.

Gotta hand it Mamdani. He really knows how to distract liberals as he raises their taxes.

Why does lgbt community or any straight community need a new department ?

What issues will she solve that can’t be solved by existing departments like housing, health, law and order, education, finance etc.

This is why democrats lose elections. They don’t solve real problems that hurt everyone. They try to please minority groups of people by doing things that don’t benefit even the very minority groups they are trying to please.
