It isn’t any dumber than how US states get their names. Why, we have a state named after a fictional island from a Spanish fairy tale. We have another meaning “scarlet,” another meaning “flowers,” another meaning “air, water and spirit,” another meaning “land of the Indians,” another meaning “big river,” another meaning “mountain,” another meaning “snowy,” two meaning “friend,” another meaning “woods” and another meaning “no state here.”

Pretty surprised that „Four Gods“ managed to survive until today. Maybe it’s an ancient word and the actual meaning is no longer clear.

Are we sure that The Land of Asphalt is a correct translation? “Asphalt” seems a bit sus as it is such a modern invention.
