I hope the UAF continues this trend.

Problem is that Russians will copy that tactic after a while. Let‘s hope it takes a while for them to adapt so that Ukraine make a lot of territorial gains without losing many soldiers.

Nice to see my creeping barrage via drone idea come to fruition.

Probably not the first to think of it but I sent the Ukrainians a couple emails describing exactly this tactic pretty in depth almost a year ago.

    And here we are.

Edit: specifically what I described to them was using large groups of drones in waves to suppress the enemy while ground troops move up.

The creeping barrage but with pinpoint accuracy and timing.

  4. This is way to open up the front and move in through the gab and roll it up.

That does live up with the artillery casualties the Russian army has been taking over the last few days. Something in the neighborhood of 150 artillery pieces, including mortars, were destroyed and without those the Russian infantry are further mopped up by drone swarms and the advancing UA infantry/armored vehicles.

The key part here is that this action presently is happening in the grey zone where precisely neither side could consolidate and keep. The real test will be if the UA can completely take over the grey zone and then make inroads into the established lines of defense the Russians have created. That could be especially difficult at the junction of Dnipro/Zap/Donetsk since that’s where the Russians really dug in and even set up train cars to create physical walls to prevent advance.

  6. Not to point out the obvious, but this is definitely going to be the future shape of terrorism as well. What could be more terrifying than a car bomb, or even a dirty bomb? How about a coordinated swarm of drones? Inevitable.

Interesting since the soviets were big fans of the artillery barrage followed by rapidly advancing troops in APCs idea. This almost feels like an evolution on that

I hope it is true and I am glad that the war has shifted into the favor of Ukraine.

  11. So how does it work in practice with UAF troops? Like 200 people on drones are separate from the advancing infantry. Ukraine has a manpower problem – isn’t it one operator per drone?

  12. Sounds totally unfair, they should only meet at dawn with pistols.

    (This is a joke)
