Good, guy has been on a whirlwind for about a year. Deserves some time off to recharge, though theres never actually time off in a job like PM.

„Global News reached out to the Prime Minister’s Office to ask about the vacation but has yet to receive a comment.“
You see, I feel like some Canadians (or at least the media) have no understanding of the concept of „democracy“ and „transparency“. That doesn’t mean we need to know EVERYTHING from a politician. I don’t effing care that the PM is taking vacations, and I DON’T NEED to know where he is going to take his vacations!
Being „accountable“ as a public figure doesn’t mean they need to have their personal life in the open. If it ever happens that their personal life conflicts with their professional life, then it’s the job of the numerous „ethics“ boards inside the government to do their job. If we can’t trust that, then that means we, as a society, are becoming like Americans who have completely lost trust in their governmental system.
EDIT: After a quick look online, I found out that Global News is owned by the JR Shaw family of Alberta, who often financially supports the Conservatives, especially those of Alberta. Go figure!

Minimum vacation is two weeks where he works, are they trying to suggest he can’t take it?
The “why aren’t politicians normal people??” crowd always seem to turn round and immediately demand that they live in ways that normal people would find intolerable.

Oh Jesus, here we go with another round of “PM takes a vacation”, as if we expect any person on earth to work 24/7, 365. F off Global News.

I’m surprised that doesn’t happen more often. If I have TD, I’m allowed to tack on some leave to that as well, so that I get free travel to my holiday location, but I have to cover the extra expense for the extra time.

Oh god, this nonsense again where the media scrutinizes the PM’s vacations. The guy has one of the toughest jobs on the planet. Let him take a vacation in peace.

Too many contradictions with Carney. Carney lectured young people on the need to sacrifice in his speech in Ottawa last year. But since then he’s gone on to splurge on lavish travel and now is taking a vacation in Rome?
I thought we were in a generational crises. This shows no urgency at all. There are teething problems at home that he should be dealing with.
What happened to “Buy Canadian”? He could have vacationed here in Canada. The government has already lost a golden opportunity to boost domestic tourism these past years.
And why is his office not transparent about these plans. The lack of transparency in the Carney government is disappointing. First, readouts of calls with other foreign leaders were not available, now his travel plans are secret.
While we’re at it, someone should please tell him to appoint a new PBO and establish a foreign agents registry. Hopefully, he can do those before he goes on vacation.

I actually don’t think he’s earned the right to a vacation. He’s slashed away at our social democracy, degenerating our system even further into a neoliberal free-for-all where the poor are dominated by the rich.
Most Canadians can’t *afford* a vacation, because of Liberals and Conservatives working together to weaken the working class. I don’t think he should get to have a vacation when the Canadians he works for can’t afford one.

Well deserved. This guy was a machine since he has been in office. He’s not golfing every weekend on our dime like some people.
