  1. US politicians are really good at saying a bunch of words that really means nothing at the end.

  2. nobadhotdog on

So never. Fuck this guy looks like he swallowed a GI Joe through his asshole

  3. Eclipse434343 on

Ok so we went from promising/lying about fixing our poor decisions in two weeks to when possible and if it’s impossible that means never

  4. Cottager_Northeast on

Regarding it being militarily possible: It ain’t. The job of the extended battle group is to protect the carrier. If you want targets to escort the civilian targets, you’ll need to send more ships.

Says the guy who thinks that middle class retirees have 5, 10, 12 homes as investments.

  6. Valuable_Educator843 on

Imagine if they do this and a US navy ship gets shot down too lol

  7. bleu_ray_player on

Isn’t this guy the treasury secretary? Why is he even commenting on this topic? Stay in your lane.

  8. Plenty_Beautiful_547 on

Sounds like code for *’we got know fucking clue how to stop this’*

  9. Sounds like the US is afraid of any mines out there and wants others to go first

  10. Laughing_Zero on

    What does that actually mean?

Instead of just telling us about it, maybe Bessent could be on the 1st tanker to back up his words.

  11. FelixPotvin94 on

Basically, it’s too dangerous for us to even attempt that now… but we have totally won and destroyed them and they have nothing left to fight with.

  12. SHITBLAST3000 on

So Iran is using oil tankers as bait to hit U.S. naval assets once they’re caught in the strait.

  13. So, after they put boots on the ground and secure the strait. This is running smoothly, isn’t it?

  14. I’ve got some more for him:
    * The war will be over when we stop fighting
    * The economy will recover as soon as it starts growing again
    * The cancer will be cured when people stop dying from it
    * We will have flying cars when they are able to keep themselves from falling down

Like, on a logical level, providing reassurance by just listing the conditions for it to materialize is not really reassuring. Especially this kind of vague.

  15. ThatsAllFolksAgain on

So now they want an international coalition to help them after shitting on the whole world. Which country would help them and draw scorn from their citizens. If they could, they’d probably punch Bessent in the face.

  16. Us navy will never send ships through the strait.
Way too dangerous and loosing even one ship would be a disaster and wouldn’t risk the bad pr. They may blow up the Iran navy but as Ukraine showed us, you don’t need a navy to sink warships especially when you know where the boats will be sailing and it’s only 30 km wide.

  17. Several-Opposite-746 on

This administration has zero credibility, less than zero. They’re delusional children playing war games and making shit up as they go along.

  18. I have a feeling „militarily possible“ will translate into „big enough bribe“.

  19. TechnicalDecision160 on

Who would believe this asshat?? He’s the fucking Treasury Secretary

  20. Fidel_Costco on

„Militarily possible“ means nothing. Even if it were, they’d need the whole US fleet or international partners, who may not want to tread into that sort of quagmire.

Even if they can, it’ll take weeks to get everything into position and weeks to clear the backlog. Ships won’t be able to go at full speed either, so there 12ish hour travel time will be extended, as well.

    Everything Bessent said is bullshit.

  21. I will also personally escort oil tankers through the strait when militarily possible…

  22. PM_ME_BOOBY_PICS on

Why is the fucking Secretary of the Treasury discussing military operations? What the fuck?

  23. The largest Navy in the world and it can’t commit to escorting oil vessels through the Strait of Hormuz shows this administration did not think of all the scenarios.

  24. Let me guess…….”militarily possible” is code for when someone pays Trump for an escort.

  25. planetarybum on

Trump is getting a big lesson at the expense of the rest of the world.

Mighty military capabilities are useless if you don’t have a good strategy.

  26. U.S. didn’t get regime change and didn’t get an end to Iran’s nuke program. What we got was a bill for billions and the beginning of another never ending war. Israel finally found a U.S. president dumb enough to attack Iran with no endgame whatsoever.

  27. justhanginhere on

They can’t protect ships from drones. Which they probably should have thought of. They don’t have a contingency plan for the obvious thing that was going to happen.

Get these fools up out the paint.

  28. Excellent_Smell4725 on

    „or perhaps an international coalition“

Fuck off yanks stop trying to drag the rest of us into your nonces cover up

  29. TheArmchairLegion on

So we kicked off this war without plan for the one contingency that we knew for decades would happen? Great…..
