      Regarding it being militarily possible: It ain’t. The job of the extended battle group is to protect the carrier. If you want targets to escort the civilian targets, you’ll need to send more ships.

      * The war will be over when we stop fighting
      * The economy will recover as soon as it starts growing again
      * The cancer will be cured when people stop dying from it
      * We will have flying cars when they are able to keep themselves from falling down

      Like, on a logical level, providing reassurance by just listing the conditions for it to materialize is not really reassuring. Especially this kind of vague.

      So now they want an international coalition to help them after shitting on the whole world. Which country would help them and draw scorn from their citizens. If they could, they’d probably punch Bessent in the face.

      Us navy will never send ships through the strait.
      Way too dangerous and loosing even one ship would be a disaster and wouldn’t risk the bad pr. They may blow up the Iran navy but as Ukraine showed us, you don’t need a navy to sink warships especially when you know where the boats will be sailing and it’s only 30 km wide.

      „Militarily possible“ means nothing. Even if it were, they’d need the whole US fleet or international partners, who may not want to tread into that sort of quagmire.

      Even if they can, it’ll take weeks to get everything into position and weeks to clear the backlog. Ships won’t be able to go at full speed either, so there 12ish hour travel time will be extended, as well.

      Everything Bessent said is bullshit.

      The largest Navy in the world and it can’t commit to escorting oil vessels through the Strait of Hormuz shows this administration did not think of all the scenarios.

      U.S. didn’t get regime change and didn’t get an end to Iran’s nuke program. What we got was a bill for billions and the beginning of another never ending war. Israel finally found a U.S. president dumb enough to attack Iran with no endgame whatsoever.
