Well, here’s your answer to „What would happen if the 19th-century army fights a 21st-century one?“.

In most normal countries, you aren’t allowed to serve in combat positions if you are deaf

I watched a report yesterday that was discussing the level of drugs that are being distributed by the Kremlin to supply to the troops. Straight out of Nazi Germany. Methamphetamines in a pink pill. The Russian soldiers are stumbling around completely detached from reality. They feel no pain, cold or hunger. Just soaking up bullets and waiting for their drone to end it.

Question – I see a lot of soldiers getting hit by drones. They see the drones. Some of them try to evade it. Some just lay there, and await their death. Why don’t some of them surrender? Is it always possible to surrender to an FPV or is it sometimes a death sentence a soon as you are spotted?

A one-man bayonet charge had its desired end.
Eventually, Russia will run out of street drunks and criminals for whom death for the Motherland is preferable to suicide.
Disabled vets from Afghanistan and post-Soviet Russian conflicts were shunned. And those conflicts recruited from a much broader swath of society, and were probably less psychologically damaging. Vets from this war will be viewed as embarrassments and ticking time bombs.
I don’t speak either language, but I’m sensing in Ukrainian advances over the past two months, that Russian ground forces are spread thin except in offensive sectors, and their surviving soldiers are morally exhausted. They may not have the organizational skills to kill their officers and march on Moscow, but a piecemeal collapse, one soldier at a time, seems a stronger possibility than at any time since early 2023. Were I Ukraine, I’d probe everywhere, because a lot of occupied Ukraine is barely defended.

Did he have a bayonet attached? Yes.
Was that a charge? Not really. He had the walk of a man making his way through a parking lot, but forgot where he parked.
