They are going to be underwhelming. Seems they are suffering from the same type of issue the democrats are. Not enough people with their ears to the ground.

I cast my ballot this morning. I would be surprised if Lewis doesn’t come out ahead.
We’ll see how that goes. If nothing else he at least ran the campaign with the most signs of life, even if he’s too green for me.

What I believe would be best for the left in Canada would be to allow the NDP to die and then have its best bits reborn in a new party of the left. The NDP has become a fundamentally unserious party. This country needs a true labour party that focuses more so on economic and populist issues than chassing the progressive populist dragons in the urban centres that will vote Liberal anyway.

As someone else said, the NDP suffers from the same issue the Democrats down south face. There’s just no one truly interesting or a clear leader. I haven’t decided yet but I’m torn between Lewis and Ashton. Lewis is the front runner but it seems built on antagonism and harnessing frustration. That’s great to start but not a long-term strategy. Ashton is what’s needed to get the labor vote back but he’s made so many blunders and just is hard to take as serious. I have a month to think about it but I’m struggling.
