    >Finance ministers from the Group of Seven, a collection of the world’s seven wealthiest nations, plan to meet on Monday to discuss a possible joint release of their emergency oil reserves in an effort to lower prices, Reuters [reports](https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/governments-scramble-limit-fallout-iran-war-oil-prices-surge-2026-03-09/). South Korea also plans to cap fuel prices for the first time in close to 30 years.

    >At an emergency meeting, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung [called](https://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/16407949) the war “a significant burden on our economy, which is highly dependent on global trade and energy imports from the Middle East.” Japan, which imports close to 95 percent of its oil from the Middle East, is reportedly preparing to release oil from its reserves, although no decision has been made yet.

COVID, Putin, Trump. The world can’t catch a break while the billionaires sit, surrounded by security, drinking champagne.

  3. According to FoxNews, he was right over ALL the brain smart people and the short term (for the next 20 years) hurts will be worth it in the long run!! (only for them, none for us, we are SOL, send help!)

Trump doesn’t give a shit if prices rise. That’s a problem for „common people“ to deal with. He’s never had to worry about money or prices in his life so he really has no concept of the struggle the common person goes through.

And yet he persists in promising *more* punishment, because he can and it makes him feel tough. He’s holding the world hostage with vague threats about invasions and even nuclear options. This planetary instability should be enough to get him out. Instead, we’re in for a long, hot summer.

  8. $120 a barrel now? My gas bill is gonna eat my whole paycheck. This is insane.

Well this will accelerate the move away from fossil fuels globally.

In a lot of ways he is doing the fight against climate change a lot of favours.

Israel can be thanked for striking Iranian oil depot and desalination plant. Those were off limits before. Once hit it’s a dangerous escalation.

We’re also at $100 fluctuating oil now because of it, which might run to $110 or $120.

  12. he’s got the federal reserve chair in his back pocket and still can’t get inflation under control what a guy

  13. I thought he was going to just destroy the Republican party.
Then I thought he was going to destroy our international relationships and economy.
Now I’m pretty sure he’s going to end up killing us all.

  14. He’s managed to shit on the only true accomplishment he had, which was slightly lower gas prices. What a demented, fucking douche.

I wonder when the MAGA trash will start covering gas pumps with “I did that” Trump stickers?

Unlike the Biden ones these would be a lot more accurate
