Trump’s going to declare an emergency during the midterms that will allow him to take control of the election. The Supreme Court will hear arguments a year later and do nothing

This is likely strategic. They’re going to gut it because SCOTUS wants a GOP single party state. They just don’t want a GOP single party state with Trump in control of it.

If you interpret all of the GOP’s and SCOTUS’s politics as threading a needle between „we want a single party GOP state without Trump in charge,“ everything they’re doing makes sense. Trump was always meant to be the useful idiot to usher this change in. They just didn’t expect him to be so dangerous or impossible to control.

They want an oligarchy, not a dictatorship.

My warning to anyone reading that cares: right now, there is not a battle being fought between dictatorship/oligarchy and democracy. [That battle is over and democracy lost.](https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/1ro3fta/americans_arent_facing_a_democratic_collapse_were/) Right now, there is a battle being fought between dictatorship and oligarchy. They don’t give a shit about us. We’re NPCs in the story they’re living.

Strategically, the move at this point is to make moves that capitalize on the damage they’re going to do to one another. Think China capitalizing on Russia and the US fighting over Ukraine.

Republicans: Stop punishing us for Jim Crow racism.

Also Republicans: Eliminate all those Black seats.

it is important that SCOTUS is signaling little appetite to intervene in the election process.

  5. Yeah but it’s not by accident. If SCOTUS gifted Republicans the midterms how could they try blame Democrats for America’s downfall in 2028?

No way. They are gonna drop this at the most inconvenient time to create chaos. Alito knows what he is doing.

Larry Elison will own CNN by the time mid-terms roll around. And the Epstein class will for sure be picking who wins our elections from here on out…

    SCOTUS: hold our beer!

Brett Kavanaugh: we can say that again! In fact, I INSIST that we say that again.

  9. The Court Formerly Known As Supreme has already decided that *“the right of the people peaceably to assemble“* does not apply everywhere in the country; that *“the right of the people to keep and bear Arms“* can be infringed; that not all votes need to be counted; and that the right to vote can be *“denied or abridged . . . on account of race“.* All decisions in direct contradiction to the Constitution. Only Congress can stop them, and they know that Congress is almost as corrupt as they are and will not act.

  10. What this means is that at the state level, Democrat and Democrat leaning orgs need to have preemptive suits waiting to file at the state level challenging any district changes based on violations of the Civil Rights Act. They also should have a strategy to move the suits to the federal level if they lose a state appeal and an argument to keep a state case at the state level if the defendants seek to go federal.

The objective is not to win, but to run out the clock via maneuvering and maximizing timelines.

  11. They’ll just push their primaries back or even attempt to re-do them entirely 🤷‍♂️

  12. Never put it past a conservative court and statehouse to bend over backwards breaking their own precedent to ensure it injures liberals or their ability to win *fairly* .

They will redo primaries, push dates, change or in many other ways look to tamp down the vote if the clock runs down.

Remember that open SCOTUS seat that Obama never got to fill? Remember when it happened again just 4 years later?

    I ‚memba 🍇

“unless they do something extraordinary like move or redo primaries” uh yeah, Republicans never do anything like that right? They never ratfuck, cheat, and jerryrig every fucking thing they can to cling to power because they have respect for democracy and our institutions and norms and basic decency.

    Right?🤦‍♂️
