1. Shows again how important opsec is, cant believe someone published footage of a 10mhz drone without pixelating the frequency

  2. The propagandist, however, wrote down the darned Anglo-Saxon abbreviation „FPV“ – even using the evil latin alphabet (there are no letters ‚F‘ & ‚V‘ in Cyrillic). Tsk, tsk, tsk!

  3. The frequency of 10ghz is not the impressive thing by itself, but how do they get the range?

The range is the barrier for using these frequencies.

surprisingly good air transparency in this band. probably needs a direct line of sight for retranslator, but that is probably a solved problem at this point

A few years and those drones will be humming at the same freq my CPU is jamming at!

For those not in the know:

The video hardware they are using typically operates around the 5.8Ghz range. The radio link on either 868/900Mhz or 2.4Ghz. These frequencies are free to use for consumers in most countries, Wi-Fi for example also operates at these same frequencies, both sides mostly use made-in-China consumer hardware for their FPV drones with some exceptions.

A pilot will lose video link before they lose radio link, the 5.8Ghz signal has very poor obstacle penetration, you could fly behind some trees and lose signal.

Their drone detectors are again this same consumer hardware, a normal analog video receiver hooked up to a screen which is constantly scanning the 5.8Ghz band. Sometimes these also listen for the drone sending telemetry.

10Ghz will have even worse obstracle penetration, but they are using relay drones and tall directional antennas, they are often able to maintain line of sight with a drone even at long range, and thus this should not be an issue.

But now that this is known, they will likely be very quick to build receivers capable of picking up these frequencies.
