I was in one recently over seas. Nice car.

      Jetour SUV Models
Jetour offers an exceptional 10-year/1 million km warranty along with a variety of complimentary services and contracts

1 mill km warranty. Let that sink in.

    2. Chinese EV’s mean Chinese EV’s or any car produced in China (Tesla made in China then imported into Canada)

    3. We need a new car with no computer, just mechanic and electric! Cyberwarfare is real…

    4. If they ain’t building in Canada, its a loss for the economy.

And if you think these vehicles are going to be cheap, you’re going to be in for a surprise.

I have zero loyalty to American car brands the price of a new vehicle is absolutely insane. Bring on the competition

When Hyundai first came to Canada they offered free routine maintenance for something like the first 1 million kilometres.

It’d be nice if we could adopt UNECE regs alongside CMVSS and then ask Renault politely to bring the whole Dacia lineup over. Sandero is cheap (~$20k) and no frills. Jogger is available as a nice little hybrid wagon/crossover thing. Spring is a cheap EV (~$22k CAD) that is competitive with the cheapest BYD in Europe in range and price.

    8. People driving EV’s will be laughing in a month or two when gas is $4 a litre and people are lined up at the gas station like it’s 1979.

Low cost medium cost…in either scenario please avoid the dealership model! Tired of the stupid add-ons and „well throw in wheel locks“ nonsense. Manufacturers just need to provide right to repair and let independent shops deal with out of warranty issues.

Wonder what kind of infrastructure will change to accommodate. Would they use the same chargers?

I’m driving a Chinese car in Africa right now, I like it but you can certainly tell it’s quality is lacking.

That said people should have economy option that are just straight up missing in North America right now.

It’s sad people are wanting Chinese EV’s when Canada is a huge manufacturer of automobiles.
So much for supporting Canada and protecting Canadian jobs I guess.

People are waiting for Chinese cars to solve the affordability problem, but the reality is the regulatory divergence between US/Canada and the rest of the world is what keeps affordable options out of our market.

In Europe, you can buy a brand new electric hatchback or a hybrid SUV from an European brand for 20,000 euros or less.

There is no logical reason a car that gets 5 stars in Euro NCAP and can drive on the Autobahn cannot be sold in Canada.

BYD Shark and Seal(lion) are the only Chinese EVs worthwhile buying. The rest are junk.
