Good map but god those colors are kinda hard to distinguish from each other, maybe make each more saturated

    2. Seems to line up with low populations and resource extraction heavy economies, which makes sense. If a significant proportion of the populace works in mining/oil, then the gender disparity will favor men. In general, however, there are slightly more women (probably because life expectancy is longer for women).

Washington State seems to be a bit of an outlier in my hypothesis, though. Maybe resource extraction in the east and tech in the west?

    3. As a single man in his forties in NY (just upstate enough to be east of MA) it *does* feel like I’m surrounded.

    4. The normal case for humans is that there are more women than men. When we see that there are more men there usually needs to be a reason for it.

Also, the. Normal -birth ratio- is that there are more males born than females. Despite that the total ratio in the population ends up with more women.
