Polens größte Oppositionspartei, die nationalkonservative Partei „Recht und Gerechtigkeit“ (PiS), hat Przemysław Czarnek zu ihrem Kandidaten für das Amt des Premierministers ernannt, falls sie die Parlamentswahlen im nächsten Jahr gewinnen sollte.
Czarnek, der in der ehemaligen PiS-Regierung als Bildungsminister fungierte, gilt als konservativer Hardliner, der eine herausragende Rolle in der Kampagne der Partei gegen die sogenannte „LGBT-Ideologie“ spielte und sich dafür einsetzte, dem katholischen Unterricht an Schulen eine größere Rolle zu geben.
Bei einer Veranstaltung zur Bekanntgabe seiner Kandidatur erklärte Czarnek, er wolle die „offenkundig deutsche“ Regierung des derzeitigen zentristischen Premierministers Donald Tusk absetzen und Polen wieder „normal“ machen.
