      Packets of crisps are another item, they occasionally have elevated levels of acrylamide.

      I started buying it a few years ago as excessive nitrates give me migraines. I converted my husband immediately because it was so much better

      I wonder if the bacon forced into zeitgeist 15 years ago leading to more scrutiny lead to this outlook

    7. I don’t think it’s a huge issue for supermarkets. Bacon isn’t the only thing they base their business model on and they will just sell whatever people eat instead of bacon.

      Supply and demand, yes? Their business is supply? Which responds to demand?

      I wondered why I was seeing nitrate-free bacon on Sainsbury’s. Knew there would be a reason for this being specified.

      I don’t know why more don’t sell guanciale, it’s made without nitrates and it’s much tastier than bacon or pancetta for cooking, not as good for sarnies though.
