In Moncton, it went from 1.37 to 1.45 yesterday. Today it’s 1.52. Horrible

Considering that the majority of Canadians live in urban environments, we really ought to be doing more to reduce car dependency

Keep an eye out for Federal initiatives to speed electrification, and take advantage of them if it works for you.

This is another reason why Canada needs to shift away from dependence on oil.

$2 a liter for diesel is fucking insane. That is definitely going to come back and bite us everywhere else, since everything is hauled by diesel fueled engines.

It’s actually astounding how one man elected in a foreign country can have such an enormously negative effect on my day to day life. And we’re only one year in.

Cant wait for the uneducated that dont understand the global market to tell me this is because Québec didn’t build a pipeline or some other quadruple-down-on-gas brilliant strategy

We should have pivoted to EVs sooner like China and Nordic countries.

Food inflation is about to go nuts in Canada. It was +7% Jan/Jan while gas was -16% over the same period. Everybody stock your freezers asap!

There should be an international class-action to seek damages from Trump, personally, for creating the instability that costs everyone else for petrochemicals because of his fickle war-mongering!

Would sure be nice if we managed to refine our own oil instead of sending it to the US and buying it back at a premium

The only, and I mean only good thing about this is I’m starting to see a lot more people who liked Trump starting to turn against him.
The best time would’ve been before the election but the next best time is now I suppose.

Call it the U.S. Carbon Tax and make the U.S. pay for it.
Add a rebate in the CUSMA negotiations for every time the U.S. disrupts oil markets by bombing countries.
Our Maple MAGA won’t know whether to blame the U.S. or support a foreign Carbon Tax. Win win.

Stations are going to have to increase the pre-authorization limits that can be selected before filling up. Some stations currently limit it to $100. Ha ha. Is that even a full tank now?

High oil prices are good for Cananda. Literally helps out economy. Canadian dollar is up and it’ll push people and businesses to consider fuel economy or going EV when purchasing a car.
Our gas is still fairly cheap when you consider inflation over the last 15 years or what Europeans pay.

I switched to an EV when we had our second kid a few months ago – 7 passenger SUV – and it’s been way easier than I thought. We just did a road trip to and from Edmonton/Kananaskis the last few days and we can charge at home for less than 1c per kilometre and charged for free at the hotel so it was $50 in Supercharger costs round trip to do 770km in near-zero temps.
It’s so nice to be untethered from the gas pump swings and never even have to fit in a gas station visit when commuting. The tech is ready and the charging network is already good in Canada – definitely worth considering now more than ever.

Cue the MAGA leaning „conservatives“ amongst us who are going to somehow blame this on Carney.
Gas prices here in Ottawa have bumped up from $1.27 /L on March 3rd to $1.55 / L today.
And this kids is why we should want EV’s.
