I mean, it would undermine how much competence I accord to those involved, that’s for sure. The fact that it’s even a question that’s already been brought up has me concerned.
Go with one supplier. Train the upkeep domestically from same. Source the components through the supplier it was purchased from or get the specs to manufacture domestically. This shouldn’t turn in to another political chess game.
I find the most fascinating thing about these is the fact that the Hanwa subs can be run with as few as 33 crew. That makes the sustainability of running a large fleet so much easier. I don’t know about the TKMS subs, but if they are similar, it will be a really touch decision.
