We are only getting started. If this war drags on prices will go way higher. There hasn’t been this much disruption to the oil and gas industry since the 1970s. We are likely to see an unprecedented rise in prices. I won’t be surprised if prices hit €3 a liter.
dumb fucking war being fought for no fucking reason
Its nothing but price gouging.
They have reserves bought before a shot was fired but see this as an excuse to up prices now.
When the price of oil comes down you will hear all about reserves as the reason you need to pay higher prices for a few weeks or months before they can lower them.
It’s impossible for a sizable portion of the country not to boycott fuel retailers given how necessary a car is for existence in most of the country.
You can however choose to buy fuel only. Forego the high margin coffees, drinks, snacks, deli etc. since most will claim they make little on fuel hit em on the higher margin impulse purchases
People prefer to be angry at alleged „price gouging“ because it puts the blame on someone rather than having to accept the uncomfortable reality that their world and economic wellbeing are built on wafer thin foundations that are entirely outside of their, or indeed this country’s control.
The answer is more renewables, more insulation and energy efficiency, better public transport, better regional and more community development, shorter commutes, and more cycling and walking.
Welcome to the EU, this is where we have sanctions on Russian oil which has zero impact on Russia and 100% impact on citizens of Ireland fuel prices. But hey at least we can claim the moral high ground, even if it means we have empty pockets.
You have the big fat orange idiot and that clown Netanyahu to thank for this.
Rocket and Feather; prices shoot up, but only. trickle down.
Forecourt rrp is cheaper than the fuel card price
Seems ludicrous
Lads check out the fuel prices Ireland Facebook group
Tis like being on an anti-vaccine conspiracy forum from 2020.
It’s unhinged.
Claims that our oil should not be impacted since it’s mainly sourced from Norway
Or my personal favourite
“We have 90 days supply so prices should not change so fast”
israels war which benefits only to them.
Remember all those times people on here asked why some of us were so obsessed with politics in the USA?
Price of everything else will go up too.
Just as inflation was starting to even out.
You’re being double robbed . Applegreen fuel card sent me a text and it’s €1.79 cpl +vat for diesel
100% Epstein files dodging
Companies once again taking advantage to make massive profits, the price gouging in Ireland never stops.
Fuck Americ@
Good. Hasten the change to electric vehicles. When the world is no longer hooked on oil, that shithole part of the world loses all relevance.
Cut that fuel card into pieces. They’re convenient for fleets but they are a scam. If you’re not on the phone weekly ensuring you’re getting the best price possible, they will start adding to their margin. Might only be a cent or two per litre, but its happening to the whole customer base.
Also fwiw, and nothing to do with price rises this week, the price DCI are offering you are based (loosely) on the current price of the barrel. The advertised price at the pump was fuel bought 6-8 weeks ago. I can only imagine what the pump will read in 6 weeks
