Just don’t buy it. If people don’t buy it then Bungie will know customers think it’s not worth the money.

One of the most diabolical things is it costs $9.99 for 1,000 credits, and a skin costs 1,120 credits..

      A $40 game mind you.

Bungie’s managers have got to be the most skilled people in the industry when it comes to keeping a company on life support for this long instead of getting out of the way.

I plan on playing Marathon since, at base, it looks like it has enough for me to enjoy and seems a little more figured out than Destiny. But experience tells me that they’ll fumble update after update because the devs don’t have the job security to pull all the teeth they need to pull to get the job done right.

You know I’ve been asking people on reddit all day if there was enough good content to justify spending $40 on it but everyone has avoided my question and said “I’ve been having a blast”.

Sounds like blind robbery. You used to buy a game for $60, get a 16 hour campaign, PvP, dozens of unlockable cosmetics from just playing and free content every now and then.

I’ve been sitting at home debating on whether to buy or not and it sounds like I can expect it to be on gamepass or become free just like Overwatch or Destiny 2.

Yeah I thought I was claiming my rewards on the battle pass, especially since I bought the deluxe edition. Nope. I was using my credits to buy the battle pass items that I thought I had earned.

WTF. It should say „Buy“ and not „Claim“

I hate the people that buy cosmetics more than the existence of the cosmetics.

Imagine if the human labor that goes into developing post-launch monetization schemes and seasons and shops and content drips and hamster wheel mechanics had gone into making Marathon a truly excellent gaming experience instead.

Remember when everyone was blaming Activision for all the shit things Bungie was doing?

Miserable company. Anyone who’s been playing destiny 1 and 2 knows this company is atrocious at live service games.

    10. Hey, this is their first game… well, their first live service… it’s the first game by people that were kids when, Marathon came out… but not when they knew of Destiny and its issues

Ya know what, I got no excuses for them, save for a big fat TOLD YOU SO, even though in my heart I wished it wouldn’t be true… AGAIN

They learn nothing and will constantly work on this and QoL fixes that drop in year 2 or 3 of you putting up with it because the game is fun, then burn out 2 months later on what is now a complete game (mostly)

    11. I will say I’m glad that the pass is 100% cosmetic. No XP boosters or anything like that either.

But limited numbers of weapon charms and stickers? Seriously?

    12. It’s a battle pass purely for cosmetics. There’s no reason to buy it unless you specifically want the cosmetics. It’s not like other battle passes that give you xp boosts, weapons, armor, or other usable items. It’s *just* cosmetic stuff. Even calling it a „battle pass“ is a bit of a misnomer.

    13. I don’t play extraction shooters but I know part of it is the risk of losing your gear.

If I put a sticker on my shotgun and I’m killed and looted – does that person get my customized shotgun with sticker? And am I SOL?

As a concept I think that’s cool. Losing paid cosmetic items in the process is very not cool.

    14. Salty_Map_9085 on

Caring about cosmetics in any way is a skill issue, honestly do not care to hear anybody whining about cosmetics being a billion dollars or whatever just play the exact same game without them

Shit like this is why I don’t buy anything from Bungie. As a long time destiny player. They will treat you how they treated us

    16. One of the reasons I didn’t buy Marathon other than I didn’t really like it is that I knew how they treated D2 and I wasn’t ready to go down that journey with them

    17. Misterfrooby on

Bungie became so big and successful that they became EA. The biggest studios are the greediest, most generic studios.

For me personally (don’t downvote me to hell please) at 40 bucks, I’m not against giving them $10 every now and again for a battle pass. Im not a fan of the practice and I really hope the future ones include LUX currency (with enough complaining it may happen). The store prices on the other hand are silly and I’m very much against. I take the same approach to this game as I do with all the other live service games, I’ll get the base battle pass but never ever purchase anything from the storefront. I try to at least vote with my wallet in that sense

    19. Pessimistic_Gemini on

Leave it to Bungie to implement the worse part of Destiny 2 back into something baring the name of one of their oldest IPs.

    20. People might think I’m defending the company (I’m not, this shit is egregious) but I like the game so idk it’s hard for me to not play it at $40. Don’t really care for the cosmetics but I understand why people are rightfully sick of companies overcharging for crumbs at this point.

    21. Hell’s bells, that is some *GREEDY* monetization! Having to get multiple copies of a weapon charm just to use it on different weapons simultaneously? *FUCK* that shit!

    22. Man, coulda just printed money with new Halo’s but instead they started their own thing and ruined their entire legacy for the most part…so sad what happened to Bungie and Microslop at this point. (tho Reach was also a pretty bad way to go out as well)

Hey, if you guys could avoid negative comments and reviews for the first month, that would be appreciated.
