A few things the chart can’t show: Germany’s 27% closure rate tracks closely with how German parks are structured – many are family-owned operations that have been running the same coasters for 30-40 years rather than cycling through headline rides. The US 64% is heavily shaped by the late 90s overbuilding period and the Six Flags bankruptcy in 2008-2009, which alone took out dozens of coasters.
