So…is it really beneficial to be telling large news organizations this?

    2. It’s pretty amazing that we’re in Year 5 of the Russia-Ukraine war, where Russia very heavily relies on Iranian drones for the past several years. And now nations around Iran realize all of a sudden that they’re not prepared to deal with drones? Did nobody sit them down and draw it for them, in crayon, like usual? That entire war has been a near-half-decade showcase of what a modern war would look like. Drones that saturate and deplete, missiles, etc. How is nobody prepared for this new reality?

maybe they should start helping taking down Iranian missle launchers, stockpiles, command centers .. etc etc , think its time to stop only playing defence.

    4. If they continue to use patriot for shooting-off shahed drones, they surely get lack of rockets.

These geniuses are using Patriot missiles to shoot down Shaheds, no wonder they’re running low.

This seems to be both an issue with inter-country coordination between the US and the Gulf Arab states AND a potential issue of depleting stockpiles. First, Trump never named ambassadors to multiple of the Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The lack of an Ambassador to coordinate and act as a liaison between the countries is slowing down communications. So we might actually have enough interceptors, but due to poor coordination we are not restocking the Arabs efficiently. But there’s also potential for actually running low on them. From what I understand, the US only produces a few hundred interceptor missiles every year. It keeps some and sells some to allied countries like the Gulf Arabs. Each interceptor is wayyyy more expensive to produce/fire than any of the missiles or drones they are being used to shoot down. Ultimately, a shortage of interceptors could occur in the near future because Shahed drones and cheap missiles can be produced for more quickly and cheaply than the interceptors defending against them. That said, the US military is famed for their logistical prowess, so I’d expect them to either find a workaround or shift their tactics to cover for the potential weakness.

    7. I’m guessing the U.S. thought since they supplied so many drones to Russia that their stockpile was low enough that they had interceptors.

    8. The thing is, this aligns perfectly with Israel’s goal of destabilizing the region to achieve status as the defacto hegemony in the the Middle East

    9. It was few days and there already out? With hostile neighbors known for their drones they should have reserve for months, literally top of national security for most of them

    10. Crank out some old WW2 M16 qual rail trucks with the 50 cals. Update them with a computerized targeting system. Their range is going to be decently limited but they can protect specific and defined areas.

    11. Aww sheesh, maybe they shouldn’t have lobbied in favour of the Islamic Republic for so many years.

Do they use interceptors on the Iranian drones or do they have cheaper AA options for them?

I was reading different articles that are quoting intelligence officials as assuming Iran has upward of 30k drones meaning they could sustain the current pace of drone attacks even if their missile platforms are compromised.

    13. Inb4 all the expensive tech is used up or destroyed through attrition and everyone ends up just going back to 155mm shells, the crab of weapons systems.

Now they’re all crawling to Ukraine, I see to buy some of their interceptor drones and get their drone specialists deployed there to train them, per Zelensky today. Hope he gets alot back in exchange

America defense tech is the equivalent of artisanal soap or a custom Swiss watch. It works really well at what it’s designed to do but is only produced in limited production runs since it costs so much. This is fine for a precision strike or small skirmish but Ukraine showed us all in vivid detail, these advanced weapons serve little purpose in a protracted conflict. If the adversary can hunker down and lob low cost bombs at you, those fancy weapons quickly prove ineffective.

omg this is so scary.. like imagine being in a country where you’re running out of defense against literal missiles.

    17. Organic_Good5771 on

Iran firing relatively cheap missiles while defenders burn through million-dollar interceptors. That cost imbalance is a serious strategic problem.

    18. Tired_of_yall1 on

The country printing drones like the U.S prints money has a shit ton? No way. The U.S was training Ukraine soldiers, providing them equipment, and learning their drone counter tactics. I was sent to Poland and have an Ukraine uniform flag in my bag. So they knew this would happen. This also helps Ukraine a shit ton.

I have no idea who the intended audience this article is for but, this is just Arab states petitioning to receive more interceptors. Are they actually low? Who fucking knows. They have leverage to request them and they are.

We spend more on the military than the next 10 countries combined and we run out of missiles in less than a week.

      Well…
      1. Of course. That was bound to happen.
      2. It doesn’t help them that the US has recalled lots of launchers to help Israel.

India used old school anti air guns to take out drones . May be thats the way to go

Mike Huckabee created a scandal when he said it’s okay for israel to take any land from any American allied Arab neighbors in the name of Greater Israel.

      This isn’t going to help.
