lol, if not the 10000 Iranian protesters they killed, I’d consider them funny.

Perhaps don’t try to pass off a guided missile destroyer as a civilian vessel in international waters.

Does the ship traveling back from the International Maritime Exercise (Milan 2026) make any difference to the world? My understanding is these international events where all the militaries show off their ships and capabilities are supposed to be protected under a mutual agreement of peace for the sake of cooperation. Feels similar to luring an adversary to negotiations just to kill them. But what the f do I know? I’m just some dude upset that the world is burning.

    4. As much an atrocity as murdering defend-less protestors of your own country? At least this is a war ship.

    5. Haunting_Cat8220 on

They should’ve stayed in Indian waters after the IFR summit, it was their decision to venture out in international water and the USN sub was waiting exactly for that.

Someone declared war on you (whatever the reasons), and that was a military ship. Military ships are supposed to brave military adversities.

    7. Not sure who would have invited a designated terrorist group to a boat show in the first place.

“This isn’t fair! How are we supposed to abuse Western principles! The Islamic Republic was supposed to last a thousand years!”

I don’t agree with what’s happening and all war is atrocity, but belligerent countries destroying each others resources is generally the point. It was an Iranian naval ship meant for combat and likely would be joining operations, so a legitimate target.

    10. Didn’t Iran destroy one of their tankers by mistake? And they killed tens of thousands of their population recently.

    11. No one is faster than me when it’s time to shit on US but fuck off, ayatollahs and their shitty bootlickers just deserves to be vetrified.
This was a fucking warship, not even a disguised one.
Let’be outraged for the right things, like the female school bombed in the capital because intelligence was not updated (or simply wrong).

Edit: I love this. Both sides seems to get triggered by my comment and that’s precisely what I wanted since it means that I’m pretty much unbiased.
I know Israel’s attacks killed civilians, I despise their „Settlers“ strategy and the like but not be fooled.
Israel absolutely wants to avoid civilians death.
Not because they are the good guys but because they NEED a good part of the western world to al least look at them as the more „reasonable“ side.
And so? For me it works.
I will keep asking for answers and datas when news like the bombed school come out and check if the side I support is still playing by the rules.

    12. It’s a Warship. It has one job. The country that owns it is currently engaged in a war. They are actively blocking and attacking commercial cargo ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Am I missing something here? Are being led to believe that the Iranian warship would meekly dock at some port and just chill there?

This is literal war and as the saying goes, it’s not fair.

Killing 40,000 of your own people one could argue is a lot worse….

It’s a warship, and the US and Iran are ~~at war~~ currently in military conflict. Enemy warships are legitimate military targets.

It’s a tragedy for all those sailors onboard the ship who perished, they were fellow humans too with families and dreams, but coldly speaking they were also enemy combatants. Were they ordered by the Iranian regime (what’s left of it) to return to attack US assets or to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, they would’ve done it.

    15. NileakTheVet on

If that’s an atrocity we might new a new word to describe the much worse act of a government butchering 30,000 of their own civilians for protesting. Fuck Iran they don’t need a military. The US can be the bad guy again when they are fully subdued and their people can rise up.

    16. MikeThrowAway47 on

This is the first time a US submarine as torpedoed a ship since WWII.

    17. Yeah, there have been atrocities in this war, but sinking a military vessel during wartime isn’t one of them

    18. BadHombreSinNombre on

“Blowing up our warship in a war is an atrocity!!” cries people who murdered tens of thousands of civilians two fucking weeks ago

    19. ILikeVancouver on

The U.S should have tooootally let that ship carry on to Diego Garcia, very unfair they shot it before it could fire one some planes first.

    20. Own-Professor-6157 on

If it was in India owned waters, and they had permission to be there. It’d be an atrocity. But they were in international waters. What the fuck do they expect..? They’re launching missiles at US boats in international waters.

    21. NinjaSilver2811 on

No it’s a military target. Despicable they care more about a hunk of metal than civilians.

    22. Born-Media6436 on

Iran, who has publicly committed atrocities for months, does not like others atrocities. More news at 11.

    23. 30yearCurse on

Outside of the hypocrisy of Iranian gov. just what was the plan with the ship? send it to attack the Lincoln carrier group? make a mad dash to home? Should have just let it stay in port, promise the local government that they would cover the expenses.

No, lets send it off like some cruise ship.

    24. AdOrdinary7767 on

When Iran shoots down a Ukrainian passenger jet its “wasn’t us” to “human error” and then “plane was very suspicious”

When your warship gets torpedoed in war – atrocity.

    25. urbanacrybaby on

This is a legitimate act of war, but this simply shows that wars, even when fought ‚cleanly,‘ fucking suck.

    26. ProjectNo4090 on

The iran government murdering 30,000 iranian civilians was an atrocity.
