  1. Mike Johnson might have had more success with that argument if Trump and Hegseth weren’t still saying that we are at war.

  2. „Targeting bombing campaigns“ is one thing, but we’re literally engaging in naval combat in the open seas right now

The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

Your idiots sank a ship that was returning from a naval exercise close to the territorial waters and in the economic zone of an entirely uninvolved country.

The Sri Lankans have fished out eighty or so corpses from there and is trying to deal with the oil slick, not to mention whatever extra pollution a freaking warship breaking apart causes.

It’s not war unless it’s from the Congress region of France, otherwise it’s sparkling conflict.

How technology has changed the face of combat needs to be addressed by the rules governing the declaration of war. Back in the day, basically up until WWII, you had to throw boots on the ground to effect any military outcome. You couldn’t pretend that you weren’t at war.

But now you can potshot enemies/rivals/any random person or country from miles away on the ground and in the sky. What would have been considered war at any other time can now be some form of college group project.

Additionally, America has so much hegemonic military strength that we can be utterly hypocritical. We know damn well that if any country shot missiles at us, and killed our leadership, we wouldn’t allow them to claim limited military operations. We’d obviously declare that we were in war.

The U.S. has been at war or conducting military interventions abroad for > 90% of its history since 1776, with only about 15–21 full years of true peace (no direct attacks, invasions, bombings, occupations, or significant armed involvement overseas).
Since 1900, the pattern is near-constant: “Banana Wars” in Latin America, major conflicts (WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan), and ongoing operations (drone strikes, no-fly zones, anti-ISIS, Yemen/Houthi strikes, etc.)

    Key stats & sources:

~392–469 documented interventions since 1776, roughly half since 1950

To make a tired joke, we really got ‚*Special Military Operation +*‘ before we got GTA6.

Every country in the area is being bombed and we have the largest military build up since Vietnam and Korea or Afghanistan/Iraq, but it’s not a war.

If you want to get „technical“ we haven’t had a war since World War 2 since Congress hasn’t declared „War“ but that’s just „paperwork“ and Johnson is trying to make it sound less serious on a technicality ….. we’re at War with Iran to appease Trump’s ego and to try anything and everything to deflect from the Epstein files. Once again Johnson is trying to use bullshit legal language to hide that he’s covering for a pedophile.

Is Mike playing the “I haven’t heard anything about that” card again? The man really knows nothing about anything huh?

  12. Prior_Implement_9279 on

We have really just normalized straight up lying. Not even any attempt to sugarcoat the reality or be vague. Just lying

  13. Doom-Sleigher on

You are a f*cking idiot Mike Johnson, a pedophile protector, and extremely corrupt.

  14. There’s that fun double speak. It’s not a war if it hasn’t been declared by Congress, but there’s no need for congress to take it up since it’s not a war

  15. Nerv_Agent_666 on

Technically, he’s not wearing a name tag that says „little bitch“ on it, but that doesn’t change the facts.

By any definition, those are acts of war, being carried out by the „Department of War,“ according to the Secretary of War.

If those actions were performed *against* us, we would be calling it War, or Terrorism.

„I think the American people will recognize the effort and support us.“

Wow, he’s REALLY unaware of what reality is. The midterms are going to surprise the shit out of him!

  18. Ok_Beautiful_5881 on

“Oh, we’re not at war. Congress has to authorize war. We haven’t done that. And we won’t.”

  19. It’s not that complicated. It’s a war when it needs to be considered a war to justify blowing people and stuff up, but it’s not a war when calling it that might limit Trump’s powers.

  20. Doctor_Shotbottom on

Does Mike Johnson ever say anything credible? Who on Earth would ever vote for this bag of gas?

  21. PlutoJones42 on

Mike Johnson is nothing but a fascist propagandist. He is a shameless liar and nothing that he says should ever be trusted

  22. Automatic_Bus_7634 on

To be fair, this man has been very clear about the fact that he doesn’t know anything about anything that has ever happened

I’m not stealing, just taking these items home and not paying.

See I can do it too.

    >“The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties. ***That often happens in war***.“

TRUMP LITERALLY CALLED IT A WAR.

  25. Their lack of messaging consistency really shows how little of a plan there is.
