  1. I do wonder how much of a threat they can realistically pose, and how many Kurds they can rally considering the US has a long-standing tradition of backstabbing the Kurds.

Remember when we armed the Taliban to fight the Russians for us? That proved to be a really great move, too.

They cut of support for Syrian Kurds about 4 weeks ago. Now they want Iranian Kurds to take down a state of 90 million people after asking the people to rise up with „help is on the way“ then not actually helping.

This has all the hallmarks of a very badly thought through clusterfarce.

i really hope they know better than to march into the buzzsaw and have to fight iraq iran and turkey at the same time

  5. Don’t know why they would trust Trump after he already screwed the Kurds TWICE now. Turkey will not be pleased with Trump if it happens.

Yet again, arming the Kurds to fight in a war with promises of autonomy, then abandoning them and leaving them to die. Classic.

Why would they? So the US can betray them again?? Who would make another deal with the US that isn’t paid upfront? Nonsense

  8. the West using Kurds like cannon fodders amazes me each time, these groups still hasn’t learned a lesson after PKK was crushed in Turkey and YPG/SDF in Syria. the Apoist agenda won’t see another decade

Didn’t the Soviets at one point propose this area in the northwest be made as an independent (puppet) state?

Turkey and Iraq will do everything in their power to not let this be since armed Kurds are seen as a threat to their national borders and interests, even if it’s in Iran.

I thought Iranian Kurds were quite content with Iranian rule and/or the theocracy.

  12. Ah, so the Kurds who are western allies, who we’ve fought with for years against Islamic extremists, but we can’t officially support any more because Turkey (a part of NATO) doesn’t want us to – we attack Iran so _they_ arm the Kurds thereby supporting our allies!

    Well played.

    1. Most Kurds in Iran are Shia
    2. Many are urban, intermarried and live in the centre or east of the country
    3. The current separatist movements are small and disorganized
    4. Turkey will sabotage this
    5. The KRG (both factions) is opposed to the PKK and PKAJ

  14. This could work kf they could coordinate it with turkey, syria and iran, so after iran some stability would remain

There is absolutely no historical evidence that this isn’t a good idea!

Arming the opposition. Great idea. That has always worked out for the US. No way this will end up as a plane crash of idea in 20 years from now. Go USA

I have an idea. Maybe we should arm Afghanistan to also attack Iran. We could sell positions on a Board of Peace to fund the weapons.

Henry kissinger started the long tradition of arming the kurds and then ditching them once they are no longer useful.

He saw them as buffers and proxy fighters, but not deserving of their own country because that would threaten the balance of power.

Kissingers corpse haunts us to this day.

Remember people, all of this happened because Trump and his rich buddies want you to distract from what happened on certain island.

  20. Lets see if the kurds would fall for the western scam again or not, i dont thin kthey remember post ww1 or the 70s, perhaps they would remember iraq war and isis
