      >“The position being vacant means that the office cannot answer MPs’ or committees’ requests, and they cannot publish anything. So, *de facto*, it means that, for parliamentarians, the office is shut down, and it means the same thing for the media and Canadians because the longer the position remains empty, the longer the PBO or the office cannot publish anything,” he told *The Hill Times* in a March 2 interview.

      >…The PBO’s office confirmed in a March 3 statement that it won’t be publishing any reports or taking on requests from parliamentarians until the vacancy is filled.

I’m sure that pesky budget office will open up again, after the election maybe?

Maybe these highly paid Parliamentarians should analyze the budget themselves?

I seen an article about the PBO being empty in the morning and it got removed, it’s worrying that need and criticisms of this Government seem to get removed on this platform.

    4. I doubt there will be any rush to fill this position. Since it is empty there will be less oversight on the liberal party and they do not like accountability and oversight.

For anybody who says it has been empty for a day, I would like to point out that they knew about this for roughly 6 months now.

    5. I had hoped they would just offer Jason Jacques (the most recent pbo) the spot for another term.

It’s kind of not a great look to leave a position like this vacant, especially if they’ve had months to get it filled.

    6. We don’t need a PBO because Carney’s government can do no wrong. It’s all good.

Why can’t an acting do these things? Elsewhere you see actings with full authority of the role perhaps with limited change capacity.
