      Democratic lawmakers emerged from a classified briefing on the U.S. war in Iran sharply critical of the Trump administration’s strategy and rationale for launching the nation into another Middle Eastern conflict.

      “I’m more convinced now that this is going to be open-ended and forever,” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) told reporters on Tuesday.

      If Iran had attacked the US first there would have been ample justification for striking back, which could be used to build support with Congress, the American people, and our Allies. Instead, the US conducted a surprise attack reminiscent of Japan striking Pearl Harbor. It was a huge strategic blunder and the war hadn’t even started yet. 10 countries are now under fire and the Strait of Hormuz is closed.
