Rubio tried to deny it himself to a gaggle of reporters. Then when a reporter started reading what he said to him, Rubio cut the reporter off and said ‚this is my presser.‘

From I’ve seen, Rubio seems to be actually quite eloquent and while I don’t think he is a good politician, he does sound like a competent one. He defends himself better than other Secretaries in Congress hearing sessions.
Whenever Trump does something, he always managed to spin it to „national interest“ and „defending against terrorism and adversaries“. Still bullshit, but plausible bs.
Trump is too incompetent to appreciate Rubio.
