>Russian-flagged sanctioned LNG tanker on fire in the Mediterranean, crew fate unknown – sources
>LONDON, March 3 (Reuters) – The Russian flagged liquefied natural gas tanker Arctic Metagaz is on fire in the Mediterranean with the fate of its crew unknown, shipping and maritime security sources said on Tuesday.
>The vessel, which is under U.S. and UK sanctions, last reported its position as sailing off the coast of Malta on Monday, according to ship tracking data on the MarineTraffic platform.
>The vessel may have been attacked by a naval drone with Ukraine suspected of carrying out the operation, one of the sources said without providing evidence.
>The vessel’s Russia-based manager LLC SMP Techmanagement, Russian LNG producer Novatek and Russia’s transport ministry didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
>The Security Service of Ukraine separately did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Zero days without an accident…
Until no russians stand on Ukrainian soil, I hope no russian vessel is safe.
Where ever you go, we’ll be there! 🇺🇦
Suspect Ukraine has had abundant plans like this in their back pocket, usually deciding against – as they would risk US and/or EU support.
But for the next few weeks, Ukraine can probably do whatever they like without it breaching Donnie’s tiny and completely overwhelmed attention span. The EU is similarly focused elsewhere.
This should be Ukrainian spec-ops time to shine.
This is not us. /s
Sometimes I feel like there is a war on…
Was Russia exporting gas/oil from Sevastopol through the Suez and Straits of Hormuz? They may be about to have to transport a lot more through the Mediterranean.
„unknown* naval drones. Uh huh.
I have a feeling that this one is not going to get towed.
russian lng….
All russian vessels should be subject to kinetic Ukrainian sanctions, unless strictly proven and verified purely civilian evacuation/refugees fleeing russia.
The dream is to have the northern russian fleet hit by navel drones, I can but dream
I hope no one got off that thing.
This LNG tanker, on the prior load, sent LNG to China. It was headed to the Suez Canal before being hit.
Damn, there go the insurance rates again…
