Israel sent additional troops into southern Lebanon Tuesday and ordered residents of more than 80 villages to evacuate as the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group said it is ready for an open war, escalating the already volatile situation in the region.
The latest exchanges started after Hezbollah fired rockets and drones early Monday toward northern Israel. Israel retaliated with a [wave of airstrikes](https://apnews.com/live/us-israel-strikes-iran-khamenei-03-01-2026) that killed 52 people in Lebanon, including a Palestinian militant and a Hezbollah intelligence official in Beirut’s southern suburbs. More than 150 people were wounded and tens of thousands displaced.

Didn’t they take notes about the roflstomping that happened in Gaza? Lebanon already indicated that they should keep quiet, wonder how this is going to turn out.

Cool cool, yeah so this is staying pretty confined then. It will be over soon I’m sure. Right? A quick shift of national regime and suppression of multiple Middle Eastern factions. Super quick and easy, that’s what history has shown.

I wonder what’s going to explode in Hezbollah houses this time? It was beepers and walkie-talkies last time, maybe this time it’d be microwave ovens?
Also Hezbollah’s current Secretary General is a very brave man, considering how his predecessors‘ exit interviews went.

The biggest question is, what will the Lebanese government and other parties choose to do here. Hezbolah has a lot of enemies, and there is no better time for Lebanon to clean house. But they can’t discount this spiraling into a full on civil war, again.

Was this the whole reason for attacking iran? More water front property.

Why doesn’t the Lebanon army join in on the action? Surely they are tired of these people too right?

On the plus side, maybe this means fewer guns and bombs pointed at Palestinian children.
