      People underestimate how much influence Iran had in the Middle East. They had hezbollah controlling south Lebanon with an army equipped better than the Lebanese army. Not only were they there to contain Israel, but they were in Syria and Iraq securing strategic locations, including helping Russians keep Assad in power.

      They had hamas right on Israel’s door flanking the IDF and causing routine bombings and rocket launches on a regular basis.

      Then you have houthis securing the Red Sea and the Iranian Navy in the Persian Gulf.

      Iran had absolute dominance in the Middle East, and they effectively contained Israel and the US. People are quick to forget how the West had to walk on eggshells as pissing Iran off would mean hezbollah, hamas, and the houthis would cause absolute chaos in the area.

      Now Assad fell, hezbollah is extremely weak, hamas is powerless, and Iran has been weakened by last years airstrikes.

      Whether you like trump or not, no administration has had this once in a lifetime opportunity since the 1970s to change the power dynamics in favor of the West.
