Temperatures are set to reach 18C this week as meteorological spring begins. High pressure will build on Tuesday, with maximum temperatures of 14C, rising to 16C on Wednesday and peaking at 18C on Thursday, which could be the hottest day of the year so far, the Met Office said.
Met Office meteorologist Kathryn Chalk said: “Tuesday will be fine and settled for most, with the best of the sunshine across Northern Ireland, north England and Scotland, but more mixed to the south with sunny spells and drizzly showers.

Wonderful news. Missed sitting outside with a book, cuppa tea and a fag

I’ve been gardening now for about 15 years. In just that short space of time, the long-established schedule of when you did things – propagating, pruning, planting – that my parents did for their whole lives, has changed.
Things I used to do in late March I now do 4 weeks earlier in mid Feb. Things that stopped growing in Oct are now still flourishing at Xmas.
So yeah – nice to have a nice Spring, but climate change is increasingly noticeable, and that can’t be good.

Oh god we’re going to be getting all the idiots and bots spouting „stop complaining about nice weather“ as if this is a good thing and not a death knell of the world’s ecosystems.

I can hear the moaning already. To be honest it’s me, I’m the one moaning.

Wait what the fuck? This needs to be more gradual. I’m still hiding my winter belly safely behind a jumper. I’m not ready for t shirt weather yet!

The trees in my neighbour are shedding their leaves now. They usually shed their leaves in late August
