Would be a fatal mistake from the US. Anyone that thinks Iran will be invaded with ease underestimates the situation greatly.

Even the people against the regime will rally together if the americans get boots on the ground, and it will be Afghanistan on steroids.

Ss: Don the Neocon is going to send American troops to achieve regime change in Iran on behalf of Israel. While there is likely to be a “coalition of the willing,” it’s American troops who will be doing the lion’s share of the fighting and dying.

Anyone sane of mind knows that it will be a meat grinder worse than Italy invasion in ww2

    4. The US cannot win a ground war, not because they aren’t capable, but because all the US troops hope to return home someday and all the Iranian troops are already home.

    5. What a sad world we live in…one moment youre raising a family of your own and next moment youre in a foreign country getting killed over some political bullshit no sane person wanted in the first place…

      I hate this world.

I am confused . Israel wants this war. So why don’t they send there own troops into Iran.

If anyone thinks they can run a ground invasion, go look at a topographical map… it ain’t like Iraq

    9. They are engineering the end, the great reset is coming, stock up. This war will destroy economies, countries and any chance of peace for a long time, im fuming. I just want to live in peace with my family.

Do it lmao, maybe that will finally get the American people to revolt.

If you’re MAGA, and haven’t signed up to enlist already, then what’s the hold up? It’s time to die for your orange messiah.

The needed transport to a base would need massive logistics with ships (lifting fleet), which aren’t existing or transport via airplane. The necessary bases have to be protected against missiles or the airplanes and the arriving troops getting barbecued. The bases in West-Asia are already destroyed. New bases in Oman or Turkey are out of question.

There will be no boots on the ground.

Will the IDF soldiers still be in hiding like cowards?

I wish someone would ask Trump how many IDF lives would he find acceptable? I bet he would have a different answer than the one he gave about US troops.

Kinda wild that all the military nutjobs still simp for Israel after not learning their lesson for 40+ years that our military is just for oil, bankers, military industrial complex shareholders and Israel. I can’t believe parents would raise their kids to be in the military and lose their lives protecting the wealthy.

US at this moment looks exactly like a failing empire lashing out at everything as it goes down.

    24. Maybe this would have a chance 20 years ago when Americans somewhat believed in serving the nation, now? I genuinely think if boots hit the ground we’d see mass revolt in the military

As an excuse to nuke iran. We don’t have the manpower for a ground invasion (especially since armored vehicles and air power will not be effective in mountainous terrain) as soon as it looks bad we will use it as an excuse to use tactical nukes mark my words.

    27. It’ll probably go like Iraq and come down to the planning to run the country and it will be as big a shit show. We know they will just go for the natural resources and let the people starve. Iraq would have been far different if instead of going for the oil and gold they went for improving the economy and creating production centers to employee people. With jobs and a functioning economy things would have gone far different. I know gwb expected a fight from the start and wasn’t prepared for immediate surrender but that was very short sighted. I hope they learned their lesson. Israel should be paying for this all but instead has will give them more money for the hell of it. A middle got through the iron dome the other day, America will probably reimburse them for damages.

If the United States decided to put boots on the ground in Iran (a full ground invasion), it would be one of the biggest and most destabilizing military actions in modern history. Here’s what would likely happen, step by step — in realistic geopolitical terms:

      1️⃣ Immediate Military Response

      Iran would fight back hard.

Iran has one of the largest militaries in the Middle East.

      It has strong missile capabilities.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) specializes in asymmetric warfare (guerrilla tactics, urban warfare).

Iran has prepared for decades for exactly this scenario.

      Unlike Iraq (2003), Iran:

      Is much larger geographically

Has mountainous terrain (hard for invading forces)

Has a population of ~90 million (nationalistic and mobilizable)

A ground invasion would likely lead to:

      Heavy casualties on both sides

Urban warfare in major cities like Tehran

      Long-term insurgency

      2️⃣ Regional Explosion

      This wouldn’t stay contained.

Iran has strong regional allies and proxy forces:

      Hezbollah (Lebanon)

      Militias in Iraq and Syria

      Houthis in Yemen

      These groups could:

Attack U.S. bases in the Middle East

      Hit Israel

      Target Gulf oil infrastructure

Disrupt shipping in the Strait of Hormuz

That strait alone carries about 20% of global oil supply. If disrupted:

      Oil prices could skyrocket

      Global markets could crash

      Inflation worldwide would spike

      3️⃣ Israel Factor

      If war escalates:

Iran could launch missile attacks on Israel.

      Israel would likely retaliate massively.

The conflict could turn into a full regional war.

      4️⃣ Russia & China Reaction

Iran has closer ties now with:

      Russia (military cooperation)

      China (economic and strategic ties)

They likely wouldn’t directly send troops, but they could:

      Supply weapons

      Provide intelligence support

Use the conflict to weaken U.S. global influence

This could deepen global bloc divisions (West vs. Russia/China).

      5️⃣ U.S. Domestic Impact

A ground war in Iran would likely:

      Be extremely unpopular domestically

      Cost trillions of dollars

Risk another long-term occupation like Iraq/Afghanistan

Given America’s recent history with long wars, public and political resistance would be strong.

      6️⃣ Nuclear Risk

This is the most dangerous part.

If Iran believed regime survival was at stake:

It might accelerate nuclear weapon development.

      Israel could consider preemptive strikes.

Risk of escalation would rise dramatically.

      Would the U.S. “win”?

Militarily? Probably yes in conventional battles.

But occupation and stabilization? Extremely difficult.

      Iran is:

      4x the size of Iraq

      More unified nationally

      More prepared for insurgency

It could become a prolonged, bloody conflict lasting many years.

      Bottom Line

A U.S. ground invasion of Iran would likely:

      🔥 Trigger a regional war

      📈 Spike oil prices globally

      💣 Risk major-power tension (Russia/China)

      ⚰️ Cause heavy casualties

      💰 Cost trillions

⏳ Potentially drag on for years

That’s why, despite tensions, full ground invasion is generally seen as an extreme last resort.

If you want, I can also break down:

How it would compare to Iraq 2003

Whether Iran could realistically defeat U.S. forces

Or how likely this scenario actually is

Just tell me which angle you’re most curious about.

Look at the difficulty the US & allies had in Afghanistan & how little they achieved when they pulled out 20 years ago, it was like Vietnam 2.0 but worse as it was over a much longer quagmire engagement

Now look at all the other ME countries they have invaded & extracted resources from – Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Libya, Sudan etc

None of them come close to the size of the vast expanse & varied, rugged, mountainous type of terrain Iran presents apart from Afghanistan but on a slightly smaller, localized scale & the US had a very difficult time there

    31. chiefassmaster on

I thought the USA was bombing missile + military sites to take out their striking capabilities. Israel is the one decapitating the leadership, they should be the ones putting boots on the ground, not the USA.
