I think Iran should have been allowed to develop nukes. Can you imagine the lawyers complaining about international law when the world is really in flames and the Ayatollah detonates Brussels?
On a serious note. International law is important, but the current mecahnics of the UN and other bodies have proven that it does not work. Russia has been breaking every rule in the book, and there have been no consequences. The Iranian regime publically supports terror and murders thousands of people, and all the UN can do is look the other way.

If international law was backed by international accountability this war would not have been necessary.

Lol just stop feeding the left voting demographic this bullshit please.
This type of bullshit talk is exactly what has kept any real discussion of solutions of reality for the region .
If this war/operation is successful then America owns Iran and Isreal owns Gaza and the world have it to them on platter .

Such weakness from Western Europe. It is really a pity to see.

The idea of international law is ridiculous to begin with.

Iran doesnt even think to ask EU, UN or NATO for complaints, advice or demands. It retaliated by bombing neighbors and NATO.
Now, did Iran meet international law standards? Or is international law a toy, the powerful use, to make the less powerful comply?

So? What are the consequences?

What about 40 years of calling for the death and destruction of another country and taking actions by the funding and training of terror groups and dictatorship.
If someone tell you they want to kill you and nothing is helping, than you should have every right to make sure they can’t do it.

So what? International law is nothing but pointless hot air without enforcement power. Is anyone really going to bother with it. Putin is a war criminal. Is he going to be arrested any time soon?

Where are they going to put people who break „international law?“ The international jail??

Since when was Iran following international law? Was massacring 30k civilians part of international law? Why do some have to abide by the rules but others not?

What does Belgium think about the IRGC funding Hamas and Hez?

Do something about it or shut up.
Laws only matter when they’re enforced. The last ten years have taught us this lesson quite thoroughly.

This is my problem (as a British person) with the UK and EU’s response to everything rn. They complain that it doesn’t adhere to a rules based order that has not existed for a long time. Longer than Trump. An order that they were part of breaking, ultimately the rules are what the US makes them as they have the strength to enforce it. Sad reality but its the hand we’ve been dealt with

If “international law” cannot prevent 30k protesters from being massacred, but does protect the regime so Khamenei can continue to execute people without consequences, then it must die. “International law” in the past was a tool to empower totalitarians and dictators, but constrain democracies.
Besides, Belgium is insignificant. When will it meet the defense spending requirements in NATO?

The UK PM said something similar and immediately gave the US permission to launch attacks from UK bases. Obviously if he truly believed the war was „illegal“ he wouldn’t immediately agree to participate.
European nations still live in the rosy fantasy land where they are so completely protected and served by American military power, they can’t even recognize it. Bold enough to mouth off about it, but not bold enough to make the sacrifices necessary to exercise independent military power.
