  1. „In January 2012, [Trump poured scorn on his predecessor](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-obama-iran-war-tweets-b2929535.html) at the time, Barack Obama, for apparently considering [attacking Iran](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/iran-us-war-latest-updates-trump-israel-dubai-uk-b2929949.html) “in order to get re-elected”. Trump later repeated this claim about a military adventure that he did not endorse at the time, saying: “Now that Obama’s poll numbers are in [*sic*] tailspin, watch for him to launch a strike in Libya or Iran. [He is desperate](https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/donald-trump-iran-ayatollah-strikes-israel-b2929423.html).”

„His last tweet on the subject was to warn his party about falling for such a cynical move: “Don’t let Obama play the Iran card in order to start a war in order to get elected – be careful Republicans!”

„Well, now what? It turns out that it is[ Trump’s poll numbers](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-airstrikes-iran-opinion-poll-b2929820.html) that are now in a tailspin. Faced with difficult midterm elections in November, he is looking for another successful foreign military action to make himself look strong and make America feel strong. Drunk on the success of last summer’s surgical bombing of[ Iran’s nuclear facilities](https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/vahid-beheshti-iran-israel-protests-b2781912.html), as well as the audacious raid on Caracas and [capture of president Nicolas Maduro](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/venezuelan-united-states-new-york-manhattan-president-b2928561.html) in January, Trump senses an even more spectacular, epoch-making victory in Iran.“

„What better way to get the [fake news media off the Epstein files](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/snl-trump-iran-strikes-epstein-b2929632.html), the collapse of Trump’s tariffs policy and the US’ [continuing cost of living crisis](https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/trump-state-union-golden-age-economy-b2927348.html)?“

„Except that his war in Iran isn’t popular – not even in his own circle. “

„… Comments by Curt Mills, the executive director of *The American Conservative* magazine, are a typical response, contrasting Trump’s 2024 “anti-globalist, anti-imperial” messaging with his present actions: “Now it just seems overt. The administration serves rich people and does wars for foreign countries. It plays so ruthlessly into the Democrats’ oligarchy messaging. It’s kind of astonishing that they’re not more anti-this. It seems served up on a f****** platter. It’s a two-to-one unpopular war, and it’s weirdly associated with the administration’s potential corruption.””

„So far from rescuing Trump’s presidency, this conflict could break it.“

„If it all goes south for him, he risks certain impeachment, because “his” Iran war is indeed unpopular and according to the pollsters, particularly with the independent voters he’ll need to retain control of the Senate and the House. Without Congress, he is defenseless against multiple charges being laid against him for breaking the law, and covering up the Epstein scandal.“

„Even worse, though, are the needless [American casualties in a war Trump](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/us-troops-killed-iran-strikes-israel-us-b2929730.html) need not have started. After all, he previously insisted that Iran’s nuclear weapons program has already been “obliterated”. In terms of defending the United States, his latest actions make no sense.“

„Most of all, I’d have thought most Americans would be appalled by Trump’s casual remarks about the three US service personnel who, on Sunday, became the first to be killed in the conflict – “likely more to follow… that’s the way it is”, callous asides delivered with the ironic smirk of the barroom bore Trump is. It is not the first time he’s demeaned American servicemen and women, and he deserves to pay a heavy political price for his disdain.“

„The best that Trump can hope for is that he gets the hell out of Iran before the war spreads across the region, [spirals the oil price](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/oil-prices-iran-us-strait-of-hormuz-stock-markets-b2929908.html) and shunts the world into chaos and recession. The Iranian people and American pilots, sailors and troops will likely pay the highest price for this reckless unforced error of judgement.“

„Not so very long ago, towards the end of his first term of office, Trump took to Twitter to declare: “The United States has spent EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS fighting and policing in the Middle East. Thousands of our Great Soldiers have died or been badly wounded. Millions of people have died on the other side. GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE…..”

„The US president was right then, and he is wrong now. When the midterm elections come around in November, nothing will save his presidency from the [worst decision](https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/editorials/ayatollah-khamenei-trump-iran-war-russia-china-b2929705.html) he has ever made.“

How they didn’t anticipate the simple switch from Epic Fury to Epic Fail just illustrates how few people they have that can plan or anticipate effectively.

    AIPAC Fury.

Political action, committee effort between Israel and Americans.

  4. The beautiful thing about having no clear objective is that you can’t fail, because you have no idea what you were going for in the first place. Just do whatever you want and claim that was the point and that you succeeded. This is one reason why they’ve been so hesitant to actually outline any clear goal.

    >“Now that Obama’s poll numbers are in [sic] tailspin, watch for him to launch a strike in Libya or Iran. He is desperate.”

Is there nothing that Barack did that he won’t try and copy? In that case I’d suggest he use burnt cork rather concentrated OJ…

Epic fails like; Trump vodka, Trump university, Trump casino, Trump airlines, Trump steaks, Trump ice, Trump magazine and it goes on and on.

The one, tiny solace I take in all this is knowing that the history books will reflect that the pretext for WWIII was that Donald Trump raped kids.

Imagine learning about that. The US started a war because their dementia-riddled president didn’t want to admit that he stuck his tiny, little pecker into children.

  8. His entire fucking administration is going to go down as an epic fail.
There will no longer be a debate as to the worst President.

It will be known as one of the darkest chapters in American history.
Decades from now people will read and study it trying to figure out how the hell we let it happen.

Trump actually is being quiet about his little war. Why? I think he understands that this is extremely unpopular with many of his supporters. So why did he attack Iran? I think that someone threatened him with exposure of his big vulerability, evidence from Epstein. Someone who employed Epstein as an intelligence agent. Someone like Bibi.

Remember when Obama got Bin Laden without starting WWIII? Now that was a real man.

  11. Who cares?! Fuck him!! We are all in great danger! Even if we manage to get through all this without a terrorist attack on U.S. soil, the trillions of dollars this is going to cost will have a devastating impact! At a time when Trump is creating a supercharged greenhouse effect. With a defunded FEMA. With grocery store prices that were too damn high already. With ICE running amok and plans to steal Greenland and all the Venezuelan oil. With…

Starting any operation with the targeting of a girl’s school, and murdering a hundred children in our name, seems a lot more like a crime than a fail.

  13. Most of all, I’d have thought most Americans would be appalled by Trump’s casual remarks about the three US service personnel who, on Sunday, became the first to be killed in the conflict – “likely more to follow… that’s the way it is”.

Remind me why vets support this clueless, heartless draft dodger? Make it make sense.

Trump continues to make the case why Congress needs to have the responsibility to declare war, just as he made the case why Congress needs to have the responsibility to raise taxes and set tariffs. It’s the only silver lining to his presidency: It sometimes takes a train wreck to remember why you need to keep cows off the tracks.

It’s kinda telling he chose „EF“ as the initials.

It couldn’t read more like Operation Epstein Files if he tried.

Dump Trump. Congress has the power and the duty to make it happen. You’d think by this point they’d have figured it out. Impeach and convict, fast and hard, before he even knows what’s happened. it’s simple really, stop playing dumb, abandon the talking points, drop the mindless party loyalty, and do what needs to be done. Remove him. The absolute worst president of all time has got to go.

  17. Always republicans starting wars with no concept of and end game ( 911 and many terrorist attacks in Europe was caused by this kind of ineptitude

    >Trump will have to carry the can. It may soon dawn on [the Maga faithful](https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/donald-trump-iran-ayatollah-strikes-israel-b2929423.html) that this unwise excursion is of vastly more benefit to Israel than America, which faces no direct imminent threat from Iran at all, and that their president has been persuaded – duped, even – into this unwise excursion by his old friend Benjamin Netanyahu.

    >In fact, the Omani foreign minister who had been brokering the US-Iran talks let slip that the Iranians had caved in on the nuclear demands just [before Trump launched Operation Epic Fury](https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/israel-middle-east-donald-trump-war-lies-b2929521.html). So the ayatollah that Trump just assassinated had, in fact, given him what he demanded – and Trump went ahead anyway.

  19. I truly believe there is no larger strategy other than Donny wanted to attack Iran.

  20. Donald Trump’s entire life is an epic fail. The problem is nobody seems to acknowledge it when it matters. His father didn’t acknowledge that he was a moron when he was young. His bankers didn’t acknowledge that he was too incompetent to manage a business when he was losing hundreds of millions. And the American people didn’t acknowledge that he was physically and mentally unfit to be a political leader. Twice.

I would say his whole presidency was an epic fail, but if the plan was to cover up the Epstein files and make his donors rich, then everything is going perfectly.

No one’s talking about the revelations on Friday that the DoJ scrubbed 3 different interviews about TrumPedo assaulting a child, or the fact the Republican interviews of ths Clinton’s was a giant nothing burger.

Seems to me Operation Epstein Files was a huge sucess for TrumPedo getting the narrative changed.
