      I feel like the only person on Reddit who doesn’t give a shit about this.  People have been able to record me without my knowledge or permission for like 15 years.  Who cares.

      Are you honestly going to act like me tilting my phone makes you think I’m recording you?  I guarantee I can record you in public without you noticing.

      Slapping a Prada logo on a creep-cam doesn’t make it ‚aspirational’—it just makes surveillance more expensive. Meta’s business model is literally selling the right to violate everyone else’s privacy in 4K.

      Per usual people in the comments who like to just be up in arms about things.

      I have a pair and they are great. I can go for a bike ride and listed to a podcast directly in my glasses so I can still hear traffic. I can take a hands free video of my toddler son while being able to still fully engage with both of my hands.

      Can I imagine a scenario where someone can be a creep with this? Sure. But why does that mean the entire concept and everyone else is a creep. I can imagine the same scenario with a lot of other products as well.

      I have one. I use it for open air Bluetooth headphones to listen to audio books when walking my dog. The camera was fun for like first two days recording my dog popping in odd places but I haven’t used it since. If they make one without camera, I’d buy another pair.

      The wave of accusations that will ruin lives in every social settings from gyms, to malls, to homes to work places of people apparently creeping.

      The wave of actual crimes being committed due to these glasses like stalking, creeping, voyeurisms, robberies etc.

      7 million units but I don’t know a single person who has a pair, nor have i seen them in the wild…and I live in the Bay Area. I really don’t get who these are for.

      Mine bricked after 2 weeks of light use. I got them at Christmas and they came with the 3rd party replacement plan. It’s now been like 3 months and I still don’t have a replacement.

      Some tech start up should create a device that blocks or blurs your images from others‘ camera. Insta buy for me. Add a service that would continously scrape through the web or any data brokers‘ database to delete my personal data, heck I’d subscribe the shit out of it.

      Just wait until someone has the idea to tap into the recording in order to „find lost dogs“, only for an engineer later to accidentally expose that they have a vision to use the facial recognition for much more than just that.

      We have people in my town with them. You can see them using them at grocery stores asking which product is a better deal. Apparently looking at price per ounce was just too hard.

      I’m going to come out and say it. I own these. They’re my only current pair of glasses. I have prescription lenses.

      I don’t use them to record or photograph people. I haven’t disabled the light. I don’t actually go anywhere or do anything. I’m at home 99.9% of the time. Using them to take photos of people never crossed my mind until privacy issues came up.

      So why do I have them? To take pictures and videos of my cats. Usually by the time I get my phone out and recording, they’ve stopped doing the adorable thing I wanted to show my wife.

      The other reason. I struggle bad with headaches. Headphones make them worse. Earbuds hurt really bad. I use them to listen to music.

      I’m not trying to argue people aren’t using them for bad things or anything. A lot of people are asking why you would buy them. Well, that’s why I bought them.

      Privacy issues.. what we post and do on Facebook collects far more than these glasses do. Give me a break

      Just kicked someone out of my bar this weekend for refusing to take them off. I have a feeling this is the beginning of a big headache for a lot of bartenders.

      Member when the OG smart watches could take pictures? Then there was public outcry, so the tech companies added a lens capture sound effect to the camera app.

      Not a big tech nerd, but I want these to record my kids sports games while coaching the team and not having to hold a phone or camera. Also Those AI cameras that go up on poles are cool but all of them require a subscription to record.

      Sat next to a guy on an airplane yesterday who wore his meta ray bands, I asked them how they were, and all he said was „expensive“ and he „hadn’t recorded anything on them“ but it sounded like he liked how the lenses get dark in the sun the most, lmaooo

      Far less concerned about individuals, even unconcerned. The greatest threat will always be entities who can get ahold of the recordings without your express permission.

      I wish we would stop moralizing over technology.

      I’m no fan of Meta but these are no more a „privacy coup“ than your iPhone or the first Nokia cameraphone was. I also fail to see what they can do that my phone can’t – I can start recording and walk down a busy street without anyone batting an eye, can I not? They even have a built-in „recording“ indicator that – as far as I am aware – you cannot disable. It even has checks to prevent taping over the indicator LED. My phone does not.

      Why were you guys not outraged at GoPro or other miniaturized, HD-capable cameras? Why are they not „tools for creeps“ and privacy nightmares?
