I would bet the age groups here play a big role. I wouldn’t trust anyone over 50 to competently use AI and understand its limitations. They likely make up the majority of hiring managers. Before you respond with your own personal anecdote about how you’re over 50 and you can use AI, consider that between that and posting on Reddit at all, you are already in the extreme minority of competent managers.
Most job seekers are likely to be younger than 50 and have an actual understanding of how unreliable and useless AI is in its current form.

I recall when the automated AI resume review applications were starting to gain more and more popularity in a few years ago.
The SaaS company I worked for had a private equity sale and “reorganized” many departments so I was on the job hunt again.
I updated and tailored my resume and started applying. All sorts of positions but every single one was appropriate for my work history and skills. I did that for a few weeks and got zero calls or real emails (only canned/automated emails)
I learned about the systems that people were using and I ran my resume through to see how well it matched up with some sample job listings to see if I could figure out what the hell was happening.
Despite my resume have some of the same exact terminology for my previous titles, responsibilities, etc., my resume was still rated as a poor match.
It was absolutely terrible knowing my fate was in the hands of shitty AI.

70% of people whose workload is directly reduced by letting AI do the boring part. Sure.

That’s a bold claim of 70%.

Well, that explains why I’m ghosted all the time…

HR is already the most worthless role. I will gladly deal with an AI vs an HR rep.

Yeah and then they say people are unqualified. The whole step where you meet someone is missing and like it or not that step really really matters. It’s just like dating. You don’t get to ask the right questions or see someone from the apps and that just doesn’t work.
I’m in a growing industry and qualified for the jobs I’m seeking but don’t get call backs. Sure my resume might need work as to say I accept my part in it for whatever that is but these openings I apply for stay open so what are these people looking for? Masters degrees for an 80k entry level type job? Hate to tell them people with masters degrees won’t be happy doing that
