100kg of sugar is 400,000 calories. Meaning over 1,000 calories a day in sugar, on *average*. I have doubts.

I think this map is terrible due to inconsistent standards and terminology.
All carbs are sugars, 100kg of sugar per year is quite healthy. If it was 100kg of added sugars then the country would have the worst obesity rate in the world(unless they consume nearly 0 grain or other staple food derived products other than sugars themselves)

As an Argentinian this seems weird, Dulce de Leche consumption alone should at the very least put us a bit higher on the rankings, not to mention alfajores, how much bakery we eat, drinking coca-cola (specialy with fernet) and all that other stuff

I want the Ausies to explain themselves here and tell me how they feel about the US consuming less

The Philippines is also incorrect by the amount of indulgences from breakfast to dinner and in between

There is no way that Australia consumes that much more sugar per capita than New Zealand.

Australia is one of the fattest nations (if you exclude all the micro nations) but the people also has one of the highest life expectancies in the world.

As an Australian, I consume a lot of sugar because I run/cycle daily and need it for fuel, that being said my annual consumption is probably only around 30kg, I have no idea how it’s possible to consume more than 100kg
