Why can I already predict the RCMP and the courts will get off with nothing more but a finger wagging?

I can tell you the findings, a lack of mental access. Which politicians like to talk about the need for more supports but rarely offer the funds needed to get these programs going. A coroner inquiry would do the same thing as what Conservatives are calling for.

Would end up being the same thing as the Portapique MCC. Liberals would hand pick people to write a report telling them what they want to hear, and RCMP would get a free pass as usual.

I can see the merits of an independent inquiry but not sure why it needs to happen at the federal level. Have it at the provincial level and the feds can participate as a relevant stakeholder

Its refreshing seeing people all on the same page and agreeing here instead of just the regular partisan fight.
At the end of the day it seems there were many clear indicators that this guy was unstable and shouldnt have had said guns returned or at the very least have the keys hidden from the safe and whether the rcmp, courts or parents were the ones at fault we need to find out what went wrong and where and learn from this to hopefully prevent something of the sort again.
Will it? We’ll…. if people wanna kill they’ll find ways but if we as a society can find ways to make it as near impossible for people to carry out mass harm on others we should figure it out.

From what I know about this terrible incident, yeah this would be a good call.

I think every mass shooting, especially one involving children should trigger an inquiry by default.
