  1. As an Italian, this doesn’t surprise me. Young people are leaving en masse. Before, they at least went to university before leaving. Now, they’re often straight up leaving after high school. We have a really bad employment rate at 67.5%. For reference, it’s 91.5% in Germany. I can’t get too into detail regarding my job but I literally work in the public sector and they won’t even give us toilet paper or soap despite making us live in dormitories. And it’s not like they ever told us to buy it ourselves because obviously they’d look like arseholes. As someone who wants 3 or 4 children, I absolutely don’t see myself raising kids here. The environment is hostile. For reference, I have lived in the UK as a kid and went to school there. Schools were relatively clean, free of graffiti, loaded up with toilet paper/soap and actually standing. My Italian high school had writings on the wall, no toilet paper/soap and it was actively collapsing. One roof tile nearly killed someone and no lawsuits were filed. I have friends in the UK who always tell me how jealous they are of me living in Italy. It’s always the privileged people living on Pandora thinking the grass is greener on the other side
