  1. so if peace talks happen we will know Ukraine will be ready to cede territory (hopefully never)

„Kyiv’s Historic Lands as of 1185: Donets River in the Tale of Igor’s Campaign poem“

article on the net explains why Muscovy has no right to claim those lands even from their perverted history perspective.

The demands made by Russia were never going to be accepted by Ukraine, and Putin can’t back down without gaining *something.*

Both sides were continuing the talks solely to convey to Trump that they weren’t being the difficult side.

Trump just wanted his Nobel Peace Price, but now he’s too busy bombing Iran to care about these talks.

  4. If ukraine cedes territory for peace talks then russia will abandon peace talks and go for  more territory

  5. Why would Ukraine cede territory while it is currently taking back territory? Seems unlikely. Given recent developments in a major ally and munitions supplier to Russia, seems extra unlikely.

The article contains some interesting information. Too bad it’s behind a paywall (you can use archive . ph to bypass).

    Some things:

    >Russia is ready to sign a draft memorandum for a peace accord **if Ukraine agrees to withdraw from its eastern Donetsk region**, one of the people said. That would be followed quickly by a presidential summit between Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump and Zelenskiy to confirm the deal, triggering a mutual pullback of the Russian and Ukrainian armies, the person said.

    And

    >Zelenskiy has proposed a **ceasefire along existing frontlines** and a commitment to seek the restoration of Ukraine’s territories by diplomatic means only, alongside US and European security guarantees against Russian attack. He has repeatedly rejected Russian demands to withdraw troops from areas Moscow has failed to capture in fighting since 2014.

what peace talks, they havent talked peace one bit.

They are just wasting Trump’s time, and he is too gullible to understand it.

They are using every dumb excuse in the book, to continue the war. And yet it’s somehow Zelensky’s fault lol…

  8. ok, time to allow ukraine to use nerve agents on moscow and other large russian cities

  9. Based on the current roll back of Russia’s gains, Russia will be ceding territory to UKraine by this time next year. How much of Russia does Ulkraine need to carve back a new DMZ?

  10. As long as Russia is demanding territory, there can be no peace.

Russia can’t be allowed to gain one square inch of territory through violence.

Has there ever been a conflict where the invader and its demands can be described as ‚deeply unserious children‘ ?

    Because this one can.

Not surprising to hear and Russia oil refineries will keep intercepting Ukrainian drones.

Sure are scared of Trump, as Boris Johnson, a man known for his honesty, said.

  14. Europe has utterly failed Ukraine. Russians should/could have been kicked out 12 years ago with European assistance and a more agreeable US regime. But Europe is too comfortable now to protect its eastern flank and to rally around the one country who is stopping the Russian war machine. Only way Russia leaves Ukraine is with European boots on the ground but I’m not optimistic. This pessimism will no doubt be proven by the comments below.

  15. These talks were a waste of time anyway… just like the Iran ones…
The balance of power is way off and nobody is interested in any kind of compromise.

Why am not surprised at all? One side, Russia, is using every trick in the books to delay / deny any meaningful talks as they „need“ to show results while Ukraine is not keen to surrender their land which is rightly theirs to an intruder.
Also what if Ukraine agree cedes the territory, however, Russia refuse to stop, instead wants more? What would US do?
