      Now that’s embarrassing

edit: Looks like 26.2056151, 50.6091451 as pointed out by another redditor. Next to the warehouse of the 5th fleet that was hit earlier.

Bro wtf? A Shahed actually got through? That’s sad. Maybe Zelensky should give some of his cards to Trump.

    3. Wait what the hell is going on? How can a fucking Shahed hit a US Base, even further hit a billion dollar radar Installation??

This has to be intentional by the US right? Have some imagery of assets getting hit to justify escalation?

    4. I’ve always been saying that Geran and Shaheed style drones are some of the biggest threat to Europe and the Americans, they called me crazy

Looks abandoned, cant exactly pick that radar up and move it. So it seems like they dont care to defend it.

Edit* Because thats the base they hit earlier, so it doesnt seem like theyre trying to defend that base if they evacuated.

    6. Funny place for a radar – ground level surrounded by buildings.

More likely to be a satcom antenna.

Now imagine if the US sends a 1000 of drones. If they are at least a little bit smart they already have thousands of those stockpiled.

Was this on one of the bases that was evacuated last week? i can see them letting through drones to save up interceptors for cruise missiles or to protect areas that still have personnel

For everyone saying that’s a radar, it isn’t. It’s a geostationary satellite earth station antenna in a radome. If that was a radar, being directly on the ground and surrounded by buildings will be a problem. In Bahrain, the look angle for everything geostationary is just fine with it being where it is.

Take a look here in satellite view. 26.207097,50.610061

You can see that it is surrounded by multiple other antennas. In the google earth/maps view there’s even one with the radome off and in straight up „bird bath“ orientation for service/maintenance.

To anyone saying FPS-132. This isn’t the one, there is one in Qatar, at 25°42’24″N 51°15’16″E which surprisingly isn’t struck by Iran yet.
      Should’ve been a prime target.

can somebody ELI5 how are they able to make such accurate hits from kilometers away?

When I worked there 20 years ago, there was a 39’ SHF satcom dish inside that radome.

    13. Accurate. Add a volley of 200 more of these drones and it is a costly affair, either to ahoot them down (never going to be cost effective) or the over saturation of air defenses is going to cause costly damages in hit targets.
